  1. I have a similar thread regarding Contis elsewhere on the forum. Someone advised that, after putting the new sealant in, lie the wheel on its side. I put the sealant in, spun it, left it on one side overnight and turned it over the following day, for the day. Vast improvement in the air loss. instead of losing half the air overnight, I now only have to pump the tyre every few days. Just my 5c

    Leaking Tyre?

Thanks everyone for the advice. I was also told to clean the inner liner with a solvent. All good advice. I'm also glad I'm not the only one that's had an issue. I will try laying it on its side. I didn't do that. Thanks again!
  3. I purchased two x Continental Tubeless MTB tyres for my 29"Merida. From day one, the seemed to leak air / not hold pressure. I lost the rear tyre to a bolt that went through the sidewall. I still have the front one, which is still on the bike. I recently realised, after having the valve replaced, as I thought the leak might be at the valve, that the sidewall is actually leaking air. This came to light when the bike shop cleaned the inside of the tyre and rim well while changing the valve. I put new slime in and pumped it up and the saw wet spots at each of the "spew-pips" or vent-rubber on the sidewall. In some places there were even, what looked like soap bubbles coming through the sidewall. On enquiry at my local cycle dealer, I was informed that this was not uncommon on this particular tyre and I need to put more slime. Surely not! Tyres should, theoretically, hold the required pressure (2 bar), for more than 24 hours. I have a Chinese brand on the rear now and it works brilliantly. I pump it every two weeks. The front one....every 8 hours. Can anyone help me with the contact details for the local Continental distributor? I had no response from the contact I was previously given by the people that sold me the tyres. Thanks
  4. That is rough..sorry to hear. Any idea how they did it? I have now become a little paranoid with my Toyota. I actually go back to physically try the door handle in case they have used another remote to block my remote.
  5. Besides a lekker fall as I came into the last straight, in front of all the spectators, it was a fun day out. Those climbs were tough for me as a recreational cyclist, but doable. Just can't figure out why a lot of slower cyclists refuse to keep left .....not for me, but for the racing snakes. No wonder the faster guys get frustrated.
  6. There are still honest people around...good on you Kemitche!!!
  7. Was there today...
  8. I am in the same boat...leave at 7 and home after 5. I ride the indoor bike during the week ( not ideal, I know) and the bicycle on the weekend!
  9. Good on you...hope you find the owner.
  10. S Exactly the same place (see you're a WD as well)
  11. Enjoyed it...did the 30....lots of narrow bits and enjoyed the berms...will be back next year!
  12. Interestingly, at the "chicken run" bottleneck, we compared three or four "distance covered so far" on the difference bike computers, including my Garmin forerunner and they were all different, by up to 2km.
  13. To answer the question, I don't ride a carbon...do wear Lycra though. I was also wondering if the rock formations on that hill have a high iron content. Don't know what effect that would have, but in northern KZN we used to experience some serious electric storms because, apparently, the rock had a very high iron content! BTW, no Tik or Acid...
  14. This is going to sound "out there"...but hear me out! I did the Big Red Barn 30km today. While riding up the one hill just before the USN table on the road, it suddenly felt like I was being stung on the upper, inner thighs where they make contact with the saddle. It was so sore I jumped off the bike. Just then my fingers touched the metal part of the handlebar and it was like touching a live electrical wire! I then realized that the shock in the nether regions came from the saddle rails...if I stood up, no shock! Coincidentally, this happened under those huge power lines. Two other people confirmed that the same had happened to them, also under the power lines.....how is this possible? Any got any idea. I have never experienced this in my life...and I have been around for nearly 50 years. Anyone else experience this?
