  1. Anyone have a real weight of a 2017 Scalpel 4 with pedals (or without)??
  2. It has come to my attention that Cannondale will not be selling the hardtail Si in South Africa, well according to a few shops anyways. So if I particularly want a Cannondale Si Carbon 4 how would I get one? Anyone brought bikes in on special order with Omnico?
  3. I called to get check it out, they said they were in PE so I told them I'm from PE and want to come look, then they had the stock in Nelspruit, asked them for an address in Nelspruit where I could send a business partner then he said he thought they were sold out! Anyway I hope nobody falls for this. Thanks for the comments

  5. Thanks for the feedback guys, Chatting to Transport for Cape Town the biggest issue is lack of enforcement, even the best method of design and infrastructure cannot be productive and efficient if people dont obey the law or if the law is not forced onto people who cannot obey.
  6. We are looking to approach some of the bigger centers that already have cycle lanes with only painted lines, DBN, JHB etc.... Does anyone know who heads up any cycling organisations that may help us get momentum in these centers?
  7. Thanks Tatt, That is actually their sole purpose, there isn't always the option if creating a barrier that cannot be bridged so these were designed as an awareness aid. So many road users both vehicle and bike are distracted by so many things whilst driving and riding and the idea ia to have a passive reminder/warning of impending danger.
  8. Valid point. I believe the issues that lay beneath the reasons for not using a vehicle proof option like bollards is due to the lane still needing to be accessed in emergency cases. Unfortunately in most cases the use of existing infrastructure is a necessary evil. These are the issues the engineers unfortunately have every time a design is needed for a NMT, not an enviable task to try and keep all parties happy. I might agree that the fool proof way is a total divide between cars and cyclists but it really isn't a possibility in some cases and we only manufacture and dont design the layouts fortunately for us.
  9. Good day, City of Cape Town (Transport for CT) have specified and are using the Vuka Bump (TCT) as a delineation medium on their shared Cycle lane spaces. I would like to get feedback from any cyclists who have ridden along these lanes. Unfortunately there is no perfect product that would keep cyclists 100% safe and be road friendly for vehicular use in a shared environment. We developed the Vuka Bump as the better option rather then the best option as the best for one user seems to be the worst for others. Designed to be a warning system to cyclists who can hear if a vehicle approaching from behind is crossing into the cycle only portion of the road as well as an audible and tactile warning to drivers that they are entering a protected area of the road. i would like to know your thoughts Safe Cycling
  10. Okay so some may see this as a punt but here goes anyways. I am a cyclists and a developer of a product that has been on the market in real life conditions for a few years and am wondering what the cycling world (RSA) would think of this....let me know your thoughts: We are looking at developing a relationship and trying to create a product that could be used with existing roads that will assist the safety of urban cyclists. To date we have had our Vuka bump used by all major roads authorities with great results and have testimonials to attach to our product after years of use. Being a cyclist myself I would like to bring the VUKA BUMP® to your attention and see if it would be feasible to market/lobby this as a means to demarcate lanes on existing road shoulders or lanes wide enough to accommodate a cycle lane with local municipalities etc. The VUKA BUMP® does not prevent the full road width being used but does create an audible and physical deterrent for the driver as well as cyclists who might wander into traffic. Made from materials that do not get damaged by UV, discolour or degrade over time, they are permanent and last as long as the road surface. Ease of application and low cost compared to alternatives ensure that VUKA BUMPs® are a simple way to divide traffic and create awareness whist cycling and driving.""
  11. Thanks Meen, What area or shopping centre?
  12. In Pertoria for the day, up from EL. Would like to know where the best place is to shop for mounts and accessories for a GoPro 3+!!! Best prices and selection. Preferably Menlyn or Eastern side of PTA. Any help appreciated!
  13. +2 If I ride above my skill level and damage a tire or wheel or perhaps shift like a chop on a climb and break a chain how can I expect fellow rides to "wait" for me?
