  1. Colder weather and lack of climbs definitely made it MUCH easier than Hakahana
  2. Noted and I understand. I too rode a barely sub 4 from FL and managed at the water points, but I must have just gotten lucky. I must say a Super M or a Ice cold Coke at the end would have been nice.
  3. Rasta, I do agree with you regarding safety concerns. Splitting cyclists with cars, doing 120 +, with a cone barrier isn't sufficient to say the least. However, from my point of view as a slower rider the WP wasn't an issue as it is being made of. One of the comments I made to my mates was, as a slower rider who only gets to the water points at a later stage the liquids provided (whatever it is) is always lukewarm where as with the BCC it was ice cold. TBH I'll take an ice cold water, powerade or coke any day over a lukewarm drink of my choice. Secondly, when is people going to understand that expecting the organisers to provide each individuals drink of choice at each WP is unreasonable?

  5. On another note, I have a couple of mates also looking for entries. Either Half or Full marathon entries. So AFTER Corne has been sorted, please PM me if you have anything.
  6. This should get the job done, but it might be better if you place a wanted ad in the Classifieds. There is a dedicated section for Event Entries
  7. I'm in. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that most problems of last year will be sorted.
  8. +1 on all of the above. Nothing wrong with Titan. Don't go for the real cheap stuff, due to weight, suspension (which might as well be rigid), sluggish shifting, overall dynamics of the bike. These are all things that might put you off of cycling for no good reason. Budget?
  9. Be careful not to let the extras up your price too much, you're after the bike after all.
  10. The Fork on both the bikes you originally posted are the same, accept the Axis has remote lockout. Which makes it more convenient, but not "Higher Spec". The Fork on the A20 in the link I posted is however MUCH better. Can't comment on the tyres/wheels
  11. Check out the links below. Solomons has the A30 on sale for R6999, which all of a sudden makes it a much bigger contender against the Merida's R11999. http://www.solomonsonline.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=500&products_id=1911 Or you can get the better specced A20 for R11499. http://www.solomonsonline.co.za/CYCLING-EQUIPMENT/BIKES/MOUNTAIN-BIKES/AXIS/Axis-A20-29er-2013?cPath=500&
  12. Pretty much the same, Merida has a better Rear Derailleur, whereas the axis has better brakes. Only fractional. Comes down to personal preference and feel on the bike. I would go for the Merida, but I'm biased. Also, resale value on Merida might be higher than on the Axis (IMHO).
  13. I know you're not interested. But I would recommend biting the bullet and going 2nd hand.
  14. Merida. The Merida IMHO has the best spec of all the options. I ride a Big Nine 900 and I love it.
  15. Speak to Marius from Marz Cycles, he should be able to assist you. All round good guy. Here's a link to one of his ads. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/99290-cannondale-caad5-aluminum-54cm/
  16. Organisers usually refer to the number collection as "Registration".
  17. According to my knowledge, registration is Friday at TorqZone.
