  1. Not a lot of thanks for marshal on the Cradle Route... Over 250 views so it is possibly not in their interest to be there if they are not required / needed / wanted.
  2. Different types of stickers available. Some free in stores and some a small cost (reflective too)
  3. Great message! Joined, followed, retweeted and waiting just a second...
  4. Hi Falco, Thanks for your feedback and observations. There were motorbike marshals on duty at the event and they were tasked as per the ops plan with the organisers. Think Bike Marshals were requested at late notice on Wednesday of last week to cover the event and we had 15 marshals on duty for the event. The accident scene sucked in a handful of marshals for traffic and accident scene control duties as per our standing orders which places the participants and other road users safety as a priority over and above the event itself. We would have liked to have more on duty for the race as the route, start and finish areas and the group numbers would have welcomed a higher coverage. Ride safe!

    Silver Oaks

+ 20 TMPD Motorbike Squad on duty too
  6. Jusrt been to an organisers meeting. Looks like a good one!
  7. Looks like some good progress is being made here mon-goose. Keep the shorter repeat sets going and the overall time will drop. Try a few broken sets where you swim for example 15-20 x 100m with 5-10 sec rest. Minus the rest time and see whats possible for your total time. Note: All open water swimmers must be able to breathe to both sides effectively.Note:
  8. The masses of 'Lights Ships' cometh! Going to look bright...
  9. Thanks folks! Now we are starting to get some forward motion. Keep them coming.
  10. Thanks Dale, Let us know a few routes that are popular within the area and we will scout the possibiblity of it becoming included.
  11. Lots of posts regarding road safety concerns and dangers whilst cycling posted on the Hub. The offer: Free, safety marshal services on the routes in your selected routes and area. - 172 views thats great. But no requests or suggestions.
  12. Thanks scotty! Yes it is a good route (the long and the short routes). I helped to get that route going (around the time of the World Cup - and it was brrrr cooold!). Finding a cold dead horse on the road one Sunday was a moment to remember. As that route is already covered regarding marshalling / safety activities and there would be no reason or indeed any benefit to double up the coverage.
  13. It is true. Just need to plan the route schedules and then it is a GO!
  14. I fear not listening to marshals is a common trait and not an issue... Who do they listen to?
  15. Possibly... yellow, single speed and chunky tyres with matching mudguards...
  16. Ok let me rephrase this request: There is a sponsour who has laid out the funds to have a weekly marshalled cycle training ride in Johannesburg and surounds. Routes need to be investigated and 'your' input is vital as there is no point in setting up marshalled routes where folks are not interested in riding. Any questions just PM me otherwise post your suggested routes and lets see what we can get arranged. PS It is free with no small print!
  17. Folks have posted their favourite training routes in the past, but I am sure there have been changes in the preferences due to general safety safety and road conditions. I am looking for the best training ride routes in the North, South East and West. The reason for this is there is the option of having a series of set routes with marshals on patrol in the very near future. Please add the total ride kms for reference.
  18. Absolutely! We just went from Raving very positively about road, race and training ride safety to well, Ranting. Keep it safe out there people. Share the road!
  19. The more the merrier. Lots of thanks for the hard work on the roads to you all: I remember that most of you were initially Think Bike Marshals too in the beginning when the Helivac 'route' was being set up. Having multiple outfits does make is easier to cover more events when there is a full calandar.
  20. I just cannot agree with you on this point. I took my Garmin in for a check as it was occasionally playing up. Replaced with a new updated model 5 years after purchase. Their suggestion to replace not mine. That is service that SA does not see or expect. Any unit defects are covered for life.
