  1. Yip, definitely worth it in my opinion. Had standard Super Deluxe on my Meta AM29. Upgraded with the MegNeg and noticed immediate improvement in support and sensitivity.
  2. Things are looking up for Tokai. Tokai needs to get with the times, and if the AGM was anything to go by, this is hopefully going to be achieved by new members, stakeholders/interested parties and clubs climbing onboard. Having been quite critical of Tokai lately, I do think that this new & improved governance could well be the key to unlocking all of Tokai's potential and then some.
  3. AFAIK the trails on the fire hut side are not open. But Canaries, Red Phoenix, Neverending Story etc. are all good to go!
  4. Great tire. WTB Vigilante very similar in look and same trail characteristics, but better longevity. Schwalbe definitely still needs to work on getting their tires to last longer.
  5. ODI Rogue also been my grip of choice for Trail / Enduro etc. Tried them on my DH rig and the larger diameter didn't work. Prefer the ODI Intense for DH.
  6. Hmmm... months of silence and then suddenly this newsletter a couple of days before a planned community march to get some answers? I for one do not and have never shared TokaiMTB's approach of 'No new is good news'. What a load of bollocks. The above newsletter tells me nothing that I don't already know. Simply put, Tokai is closed and nobody can or wants to say when it will re-open. Why? Well I think because of all the other questions that will have no answers. Like, will trails already have been created, what will fees be? What is the plan we are being told and what will actually happen? etc. Tokai will have been closed for almost 2 years when it (possibly) re-opens... with no work done to it except tons and tons of machinery / trees having being dragged across its surface and judging by previous trail building, this would mean another waiting period of probably a minimum of 2 years before any trails are completed. Especially if things pick up where they left off before the fires. Just as an example, Helderberg trails are officially opening on the 12th of Dec. You know how long Jan and his team have been building there to get it to this point? Years. And they have been building daily and have now acquired machinery to further improve on the building and speeding things up. The trail network that has developed across the peninsula and surrounds since the closure of Tokai has been amazing. Lots of effort is/has been made by most of the stakeholders to give the trail users what they want. But most importantly, there is a sense of community with regular articles, updates, new trails, questions floating about on how to improve this or that etc. Perhaps TokaiMTB should maybe place a little more importance on the issue of transparency & public involvement and keeping the communication channels going. Because at this rate, come opening day, you may find a much shorter queue than you anticipated.
  7. Howdy, Well, the trip this year was insanely awesome!! For a first timer over there it was definitely a big bonus having guys like Duane & Vince showing us the routes, tracks, local hangouts, shops etc. Makes getting use to the procedures/places a lot easier allowing you more time to get on the bike and thrashing down the tracks! I'd definitely recommend taking the burliest bike you got and making very sure all is in order with it. The bikes take a beating over there [in a good way though] - I reckon a year's worth of riding here might come close to what your bike goes through in 10 days over there. I could write a gazillion word long essay about how awesome it was, but will spare you all of that. So my final words are this, JUST DO IT!!!
