  12. Thanks guys, I took my Big hit out this wknd and all I can say is that the ride was biblical! I have never had so much fun on a bike! I was wondering on the importance of a back guard thingy, I'm not sure of the chances of me falling on my lower spine but it looks comforting to have protection from top to bottom on my back. I've organised Bell bellistic full face helmet, TLD knee/shin guards and now I want Leatt neckbrace and thinking a chest protector. What protectors will fit with the Leatt neckbraces? I know the TLD ones and the LEATT (obviously) do. Was wondering if I have more options.
  13. Good day! Sooooooooooo, I'm looking for body armour. Any recommendations? Being looking at reviews online but feel I can trust fellow hubbers' opinions more!

  20. Bummer! Oh well, back to the drawing bored!
  21. Was looking at Leatt, expensive, but so sick! Price seems well worth it! I realised I need a neck brace when a tree jumped in front of me on some single track 2 months ago. The resultant concussion was not due to any direct head trauma but rather my neck moving so violently that it smashed my brain repeatedly into my skull. That sucked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Good day! I need advice specific to my Mongoose 2010 Otero Elite. Is it possible to convert this bike to an AM bike? Mongoose list it as all mountain but it comes standard with a 100mm fork. What is the maximum travel I could put on this bike? (I prefer the gravity part of AM ) I would also appreciate any recommendations towards changing up the bikes spec. Here is what it currently sits on for spec: FRAME: Heat treated 6000 series alloy QR adjustable travel 2.5-4.4" (62-112mm) FORK: SR/Suntour XCM HLO 100mm travel w/30mm steel stancions, alloy legs, push button hydraulic lockout REAR SHOCK: Suntour Raidon DA adjustable air spring and rebound damping CRANK: FSA Dyna - Drive Alloy (22/32/42T) BB: FSA cartridge Pedals: Mongoose Alloy platform FRT DER: Shimano Altus M311 RR DER: SRAM x- 5 DERAILLEUR LEVEL: SRAM X4 triggers 24 speed FREEWHEEL: Shimano HG30 11-32T, 8 speed cassette CHAIN: KMC Z - 72 RIMS: Alex TD24 disc specific double wall TIRES: 26 x 2.1 Kenda Komodo black Skinwall FRONT HUB: Formula Disc Alloy QR 32H REAR HUB: Formula Disc Alloy QR and Freehub 32H SPOKES: 14G Stainless BRAKESET: Tektro Auriga Comp Hydraulic disc w/160mm rotors BRAKE LEVERS: Tekrto Auriga Comp Hydraulic HANDLEBAR: Mongoose Alloy Riser 31.8 x30x635mm (S) 685 mm (M,L) STEM: Mongoose Alloy 31.8 x 90mm (S&M) 110mm (L) GRIPS: Mongoose dual density HEADSET: FSA 1 1/8" Zero Stack SADDLE: Mongoose XC Elite SEAT POST: Mongoose Alloy w/micro adjust clamp SEAT CLAMP: Mongoose Alloy QR
  23. Ok I have found a Specialized 2009 Big Hit 1 for R11 000, first hand in a clearance sale. Any opinions on this? Seems nice and see it comes with all mountain setup and 180mm fork. Is it correct that I can get a proper 200mm DH front shock at a later stage and fit it to the frame?
  24. Oh, nice! Unfortunately, I'm a large to Xlarge from what sizing I could get off the net. So far from what I have seen, there are not many big DH guys out there. Can wait to get one one of those bikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. Thanks guys, much appreciated. Another question though, if I am looking at second hand what should I be concerned about (i.e. cracks, etc) when checking out a bike?
