Seems to be some confusion here. It's not hydraulic vs V brakes - it's v brakes vs disks. Mechanical disk brakes work just as well as hydraulics, with no bleeding issues, no fluid that boils, no reservoir that breaks, design (dissipates heat through rotor or body) doesn't matter, price is lower, everything is simpler. Anything other than good mechanical disks is just marketing hype/bling/wasted money/pita.

Imo hydraulic brakes on a bicycle are overkill and generally much more of a pita than mechs.

Start a poll with Assos, Giordana, Craft etc as options.

If you want to buy exotic, have a look at Giordana. I'm told they are good shorts and better value for money than Assos.

Hard to tell how long bibs should last. I have several pairs that I rotate, but riding 4-5 times a week my Nitros lasted <2 yrs. I know guys with Assos - same story: after a year or two they are see thru. As for comfort, slap on enough BodyGlide and I can ride in a pair of jeans and jockeys!

I've always used Capestorm. The lycra on my last pair of Nitros disappointed, but the chamois is nice and wide. I'll go back to the Matrix. Probably same made in China lycra, but cheaper than Nitros. My son rides First Ascent. I like them but they don't fit my build. No matter what size I try, the chamois ends up in the wrong place I think both brands are good value for money, so buy the one that fits you best.
