There is only one bit of advice that I can give... All you need to worry about on the day, is finishing. Not on the podium or anything like that, but getting your body over that finish line. Doesn't matter where you place, just enjoy it.
@Face Plant - Out of interest, which races are the ones that you are most keen to do? @Cyclewizz - Sadly I'm not at the level to do an olympic distance yet, but it is on the cards. Struggling with the swimming bit but there is hope so maybe I will get to do one this season
Many people were concerned last year, but they tested the water before the race and it came out clear. I'm sure (and hope) they will do the same this year
I see that entries have opened on www.triathlonsa.co.za and the price for the sprint distance is R300. We all complain about how the price is too high and so on, but the last series seemed to be pretty decent. Has anyone entered yet? Anyone else planning on doing it?

Doesn't one get automatic travel insurance when you pay for your air tickets with your credit card? I've always known to get that free when I've travelled out the country.
So I bought an IDT last year when I was using an aluminium framed bike to practice on. I have sold that off and bought a carbon framed steed. I'm now concerned that I might damage the frame (as per the store where i bought the frame). Is it safe to put a carbon frame bike on an IDT or not?
I rode my Assos about 2 weekends ago and I can't say that I was blown away by them. I bought the entry level pair and think it might have not been the best purchase I've made. Now listening to other's comment I think I'm going to be too worried to use them in fear of them falling apart. I recommend Giordana bibs. Got a pair of Silverline and they are great so far. Haven't done any long distance in them, but they are super comfy and are a good quality fabric.
So a quick question to the folks whose shorts/bibs are going brittle... How do you dry your shorts? I dry mine over a drying rack out of the sun. Just asking to save myself ruining my bibs
Anyone having a problem registering on their website? It keeps telling me that my "country requires state selection" but there is no space for a state. I'm using Chrome. Browser issue perhaps?
