  1. I also can recommend Joshua. I have known him for about four years and have never had any problems with his work. Basically he is a youg guy running his own business, who loves cycling and for that reason I will support him when I can.
  2. No you can't go there its far too close to Krugersdorp. Don't you know its the "gat kant" of SA for the poor and alcoholics!!
  3. Contact Workshop (Joshua), I know he was there this year and looked after a few riders bikes. Not sure what his plans for next year are.
  4. What AC did today was clearly legal but definitely not a sign of good sportsmanship. The only reason why he would react in this manner in my opinion is if he really felt threatened by Andy. If he had real belief in his ability to make up the 30 sec difference over the remaining stages including the TT where he has a clear advantage he would never have reacted the way he did today. In some sports there are unwritten rules like football when someone gets injured seriously, players generally kick the ball imto touch. I am not sure if such an unwritten code exists in cycling, however AC's actions today have definitely not endeared himself to the cycling fraternity today.
  5. I have tried taking gels during a race but don't like the hasle of having to tear open the sachet and then getting all sticky whilst consuming the contents. I have been considering mixing a gel with my normal drink mix. Would this be stupid? Or do you not get the necessary instant benefit because of the dilution effect?
  6. Any idea as to where in the Cradle they plan to block the road. I was planning to ride through there this weekend.
  7. The Bulls should win comfortably based on the number quality of international players in their side as well as the huge support they will have playing at Loftus. However don't underestimate the Cheetahs (as the Sharks did two weeks ago) especially their pack. I don't really care who wins, I just hope the game is not too one sided. My prediction Bulls 29 - Cheetahs 20.
  8. Can't say I really remember his playing days but will definitely miss his commentating, especially those on Radio 2000.
  9. Thanks for all those who have responded for your input. Big H, I have looked in the Junk Mail and have seen something that I can work with. Structurally (frame and wheels) it looks OK but I will have to spend a little bit on the brakes, cranks and gears to get it working smoothly. WW, no relation to Western Flyer the bicycle manufacturer. I live in the West Rand (K'dorp) and wish I were fast enough to call myself a flyer. BTW good to see you making progress after you accident.
  10. I have been looking at buying a tandem so that my daughter and I can ride together. Nothing fancy, something like Tiagra or Sora components or if mountain bike components something of similar quality. Everything that I have seen so far around the R3k mark have been a load of rubbish. I know it is a buyers market at the moment where you can quite easily pick up a good entry level road or MTB bike between R3 - R4k. Is there such a difference or is it simply a matter of supply and demand?
  11. Parts of this ride are starting to smell distinctly like a typical army OPF*K. I know my capabilities and this route together with the additional distance of 110km no longer makes this an enjoyable Saturday morning ride. Sorry guys I will be missing this "Little" ride.
  12. Thanks Agteros, I see where I was previously making a false assumption. Thought we were going straight onto the N14. Silly me that would have been far too easy. Seems like I have been unilaterally co-opted onto the ride.
  13. Has the route been finalised? Is it the one on page 3? Some of the directional arrows through the cradle and Muldersdrift look very confusing. I am considering riding with the social guys at the back as I have only ridden 2 or 3 times since completing the Wilro 100 in April.
  14. I had some knee issues after riding for more than 2 hours (about 50km for me). I spoke to Anton at Summit Cycles and went for a full bicycle set up. What he found was that my left foot needed additional support. Luckily the fix was just an insert under the ball of my foot and not a full arch support so it only cost about R50. He also made several changes to my bike setup with the assessment. Since then I have had no trouble. I was also nervous / reluctant to spend R500 - R600 just on fixing my shoes. But if you look at it logically we spend far more on our bikes and if you are unable to use it properly then that money is just wasted.
