  1. Ag no man all these sad damaged woofs. Having a chat last night with my Aunt about her Aussie shepherd who is epileptic - he fitted so badly they had to anesthetize him for 2 days and sadly if it happens that badly again she would be best set to have him put to sleep... She is currently looking in depth about developments and relation to diet etc but ja these pics are making me sad On a positive Red Cat is recovering from the infection and almost back to normal. Even trying to eat her pellets and not waging war when she needs her tablets. Check up tomorrow for the infection but still no word on the pathology of the tumor yet.
  2. I will do it if it's a challenge and riding thru areas one doesn't usually get to ride thru. I like the atmosphere created on "woman's only" events but I don't want dumbed down trails so I can't wait to hear more info. I personally reckon with out the "pressure" put on at mainstream events that ladies can cope extremely well on tough stuff
  3. Eish Ppls are sick! And then there was a scam on gumtree this week using an "abused" dog as the drawcard! Think at least the dog was made up. Good luck with Squamish TW! My red cat's tongue wound got infected - poor baby must've been so sore. Took her to my local vet ( specialist across the peninsula) and very nicely he only charged me for the meds. But now she needs to be manhandled twice a day to get the pills in but at least she is eating again and seems happier. Loving this weather cos she gets to cuddle with her couch potato mum... (Lucky it gets me back in the good books cos I'm the one doing the manhandling)
  4. Well he cut it off with about 3mm gap so she has a much smaller tongue - but cats have to have as much tongue as possible - dogs can live with a half a tongue but not cats. Too sore and swollen to look but he was happy and she is eating soft food ok. Pathology will come back next week only and then we will know the worst or the best - they also check to see if all was cut out properly ie unbroken margins. He had to take out 2 teeth as well - she was under anyway so made sense. Shame I think she is a bit gatvol of being manhandled tho the Doc was very nice and gentle. Stretch - cute story!
  5. Nil per mouth from 10 tonight... 9am appointment with a mouth specialist and I have no idea if that means they will operate tomorrow or not. Poor kitty - prob gonna take the most part of an hour and a half to get across the peninsula in the morning.
  6. Le Red Cat of mine has a sickle cell tumor on her tongue... Anyone have experience with a cat and said tumors? They will remove it but as on tip of tongue it needs a mouth specialist. They are aggressive but don't generally spread to the rest of the body. Just wondered if there was any n+1 experience here? It's not all doom and gloom but unless they get it all out then it may reoccur and the life span is shortened somewhat as well.... At least that's what the interwebs tell me.
  7. Thanx Wayne - passing on to hubby - he has big manly wrists [emoji6]
  8. Is there a link to the Ad for this watch or can you pm me details pls
  9. I probably wouldn't have gone 29er if it wasn't for this bike.... I don't think it looks funny and it rides just fine. I can mount it like I do a horse and that works in a skirt too... It only just fits my bottle... Fitted the old shape insulated camelback bottle perfectly till someone nicked it... Who nicks a water bottle???!!! Have to wear a hydration pack for my tools cos no place for a saddle bag with a dropper post tho have taken to using a top tube bag and packing my pockets like a pack pony Couldn't get a Expert frame in my size when I bought so I put on SLX brakes, the upgraded wheel set and X9 shifters also changed the chainring to a 36. Recently added the dropper post. First ride I took it down Hoogekraal faster than on my 26"Stumpy without feeling like I was gonna overcook it, also done a few Marathon distance rides on the bike... I think she was made for me
  10. Ah lump in the throat stuff and tears down my cheeks. No dos and donts for you just the words my vet gave me when it was time: Dogs can be so stoic in their suffering -it's almost like they don't want you to know in how much discomfort or pain they really are in because they feel it's their duty to look after you and they don't want to fail in that duty by seeming weak. And they will hold on as long as they think U want them too cos they just want to make happy... Sometimes you have to be the strong one... Good luck xxx
  11. Drove my kitten from JNB to CPT. Rescue remedy helped. - a few drops directly in the mouth. And let him spend time in the harness, while u are around to monitor him so he doesn't get hooked on stuff. Eventually he will get used to the feel of it. Don't even try and leash him just let him figure stuff out for himself - he will at some stage have to walk to his food bowl....
  12. Sweet stuff! Every little girls dream! May she have many hours of fun and joy with him! "Buy your daughter a horse and she will never have money for drugs, drink or bad boys" Mine came true 5 years ago on Valentine's Day
  13. As close as my 2 will ever get to cuddling. I hand reared the black one from about 3 weeks - with my dog helping out to mother her. So as u can imagine I don't think she thinks she is a cat. Although in my opinion it's beneath a cat to think she is a dog... Anyway her playmate was a 3month old Rottie puppy so u can imagine she intimidates the Red cat somewhat as she can play pretty rough!
  14. Ah sad news but sounds like he had a great innings - he is up there now with all the other souls waiting for us to join them for walks in the heavens one day xxx
  15. Aw man!! Feeling broody now!
  16. Puppies!! They are gorgeous- really have a gap in my life without my woof BUT I inow I'm making the fair choice to the dog so ja... It's just the quiet work season when I'm at home almost every day when I feel it the most. But the cats try to make up for it, the bird too. The bird has, by the way, gone from disliking hubby on sight and being quite expressive with her beak in that regard, to deciding that he is now the BESTEST thing in the whole wide world - she adores him all of a sudden! Poor Hubby doesn't quite know what to make of it and is still a bit wary and awkward around her when she is trying to cuddle up.
  17. Velcro cat Hugging Mom. Setting the tone for the rest of the weekend
  18. Ai Uni and Nix *Sniff*
  19. Hey as if we need an excuse!!
  20. Katie MacDonald actually but on his show
  21. Apparently it's also Put a pillow on your fridge day... Hey I'm not gonna argue with Cape Talk [emoji6]
  22. It's Hug Your Cat Day! I've left my 2 wrapped around my hubby while I go to work quick but they will be sufficiently spoilt later as it is my intention of doing as little as possible today. This will please them no end as they will both have oversized, immovable human hot water bottles
  23. Double post
  24. Anyone else on here with an exotic cat breed? Curious about various personality traits? My previous Abbysinian used to have to go walkies on a leash when I took the dog out. ( sadly I lost her at 9 months from Feline leukemia- she predates the vaccine). My current one DaVinci is a guard cat of note but at the same time such a wuss. Will growl at noises outside or knocks at the door. Has managed to see off all the neighborhood dogs at some stage but is totally intimidated by the Parrot! And is a total mommys girl! This last week when I was at work so much she would spend the night on my chest just to make sure I was really there. We call her the Velcro cat. Both she and my first one drool when they purr. And oh boy - for a short haired cat she can shed! By she looves the furminator brush - actually have to be careful to watch how much I brush or she may end up bald!
  25. So eventually on Friday I phone my sister in desperation to please go to my house and just spend time with my animals - I've been working 18 hour days for the last week and hubby is away as well. None of this was exactly planned to happen like this but it did and I was feeling awful. Sister sends me this pic: I will clearly sleep on anything if it smells like my mommy! Even if it's a wooden coat hanger!!
