  1. Our newest addition: Loves the hubby - tolerates me, intimidates the cats and confuses the dog with its whistles:
  2. If you are starting out on a budget and you want her to stick with the sport then my 2 C Ladies specific Saddle as already mentioned. I don't know what other shops offer it but Specilaized shops can measure her seat bones for width of saddle and usually have test saddles available for her to ride and see. There will be discomfort until she gets saddle fit to a degree unfortunately. Anatomic make some great bibs for ladies and for the price you can't go wrong, next to my Gel Firstascent Bib (which they don't make anymore) they are the best value for money I own. Plus the zip at the back makes the call of nature that much easier! Alternatively nothing wrong with shorts initially as she will feel more relaxed wearing them - it's only later that she may consider the bib option. I have a Craft pair which were R600 at Cyclelab and work well.
  3. I make special trips for their meat but wasn't sure on the free range thing. Thanx
  4. Nooo - don't add flaxseed!!
  5. You don't.... Try a local farmers market for grass fed butter - more and more places have it and cheaper. Even the healtshops may do. I have a lady out my neck of the woods who gets some and I buy from her directly. Otherwise try it with the salted one and see if u can manage it - it's not heavy salt
  6. They are good prices! Take it from a girl who does the house hold shopping! im in if you wanna do a bulk buy. i keep the nuts in the freezer until i need them.
  7. On a good food note does anyone know where in CT pref Nsubs I can find free range pork? The one pnp in Plattekloof had it but ideally a butchery would be good.
  8. Mmmm now I gotta lus for lamb
  9. I read the label on that the other day - it still has loads of other stuff in it too
  10. http://wellnessmama.com/2447/homemade-coconut-milk/ Use the natures choice coconut. And once you have drained off the milk dry out the coconut in the oven and use as a crumb coating.
  11. It's a bit cakey but nice for a treat. I use another recipe for normal bread ( has been posted here) cos it's convenient for making packed lunches and as a pre ride snack with some Mac butter
  12. In place of the Splenda I used 50g of xylitol.
  13. I like coconut oil in my morning rooibos tea. Also great as a spread with a sprinkling of cinnamon. Try it on the seed crackers. Epic fail of the day - Americano from vida with Cream.... I don't think its dairy cream :'( Highlight of my day: Coconut bread... With marscapone
  14. Got some thing today from Melissa's Richard Bosman Meats ( free range) called Lardons: basically meat and fat and spices. Quite tasty and great as a snack - bit like salami not in sausage form
  15. Guess who just turned 11
  16. So opinions pls... I am not fat adapted yet and need to start some distance rides. Won't be high intensity but riding with friends and terrified to hit the wall - shall I take 32GI or dates sprinkled with salt and dried fruit? Rides will be 4-5 hours. Doing all other rides under 2 hours with just water.
  17. Hmmm I think I have a slight dairy intolerance - not keen on giving up cheese but I think milk and cream are the worst triggers.
  18. Is there no lactose in cream?
  19. And if it is does it make me any less of a cyclist?
  20. It's only a race if you are in it to to win it...
  21. Soooo I bought a 29er.... Why... Cos i could manoever it like my 26er on the stuff I like to ride.... Ok that's a simplification but it's the 9 and 6 of it....
  22. Do you know what makes me decide to enter a race is the route description. The easiest one to draw a parallel too is the Sani2C description - it's a practical essay on each day broken into sections. In honesty the description made it out to be more technical than it actually was but that was good because then I was mentally prepared for the worst. But the way it was written I could ride the routing in my head. Also pictures help a lot - Naas you often advertise your events on here - put some pics up - scenic ones are great. I agree with what has be said above re: races as you usually have bigger numbers and so more chance of congestion if its hairy technical. But technical is subjective - loose rocky climbs are my worst(cos I'm not strong enough to ride them properly... Yet ) but I don't mind tight switchbacks or drops off... Rode a route the other day that was described as technical but cos it was in great nick it was very rideable...
  23. Thanks Sheriff sir fur trying to rustle me up some of that there knarly coloured cable covers. Much appreciated for the effort!
  24. not to put a damper on your plans BUT afaik any cycling above Tafelberg Road ( lowers cable station) is not allowed. As kids we used to walk up the back of the mountain to the reservoirs on the jeep track but I think this jeep track is also off limits to bikes . And it's a fair distance to cover on walking paths to the front of the mountain - think hike a bike potentially in a few places.
