  1. Soooo I bought a 29er.... Why... Cos i could manoever it like my 26er on the stuff I like to ride.... Ok that's a simplification but it's the 9 and 6 of it....
  2. Do you know what makes me decide to enter a race is the route description. The easiest one to draw a parallel too is the Sani2C description - it's a practical essay on each day broken into sections. In honesty the description made it out to be more technical than it actually was but that was good because then I was mentally prepared for the worst. But the way it was written I could ride the routing in my head. Also pictures help a lot - Naas you often advertise your events on here - put some pics up - scenic ones are great. I agree with what has be said above re: races as you usually have bigger numbers and so more chance of congestion if its hairy technical. But technical is subjective - loose rocky climbs are my worst(cos I'm not strong enough to ride them properly... Yet ) but I don't mind tight switchbacks or drops off... Rode a route the other day that was described as technical but cos it was in great nick it was very rideable...
  3. Thanks Sheriff sir fur trying to rustle me up some of that there knarly coloured cable covers. Much appreciated for the effort!
  4. not to put a damper on your plans BUT afaik any cycling above Tafelberg Road ( lowers cable station) is not allowed. As kids we used to walk up the back of the mountain to the reservoirs on the jeep track but I think this jeep track is also off limits to bikes . And it's a fair distance to cover on walking paths to the front of the mountain - think hike a bike potentially in a few places.
  5. Please can someone point me to where I can find purple cable housing locally?
  6. Speaking of food lovers - popped into one today and skimmed all the cheese and ham and olives off one of their salads- chucked in a few tomatoes and a dollop of mayo. , added some seed mix. And then bought a tub of their Curdsandwhey plain full cream yogurt. Very nice and creamy. ( the rest is going home with me) Tonight is left offer braaied yellow tail, flaked, added to fried up onion and mushroom. Cup of cream and bake in the oven with cheese on top.
  7. Are you guys all sorted bike wise? I've just bought a new bike and my Stumpjumper is sitting in the Garage if you need it. Size small, ladies saddle. I know Meezo offered but if u need a back up just shout
  8. Get the Tim Noakes book - it has a green, orange and red list in and makes a great go too if u are unsure. LCHF can be expensive if u want it to but also not - eg if I want Low carb rusks they are pricey to make but at the same time they are seen as a treat. Real food is your best asset - simple and effective. Make a nice rich indulgent mushroom and cream sauce for your steak, it will fill u up and diminish other cravings to fill a gap that is missing.
  9. I see the basis for most Keto BBQ sauces is low sugar ketchup which I have never seen in our shops... They are probably full of all sorts of other bad stuffs anyway so try this: http://www.simplyscratch.com/2012/05/homemade-ketchup-recipe.html Replace the brown sugar with xylitol - and go to taste rather that throwing a whole 1/4 cup in. One thing that will change on this eating style is your perception of sweet. Disclaimer: I have never made the ketchup - I goggled it this morning and went for the one with the most simple approach and ingredients
  10. Make your own almond flour by grinding whole almonds (skin and all) in a coffee grinder. Thickener that works well for sauces is something called xantham gum. You would be surprised what Spar has - see if they have a "Natures Choice" section - mine has quite a comprehensive selection.
  11. Google a recipe and then if need be tweak it.
  12. It may however make u verrrrry uncomfortable. I find myself bloated and cramps if I eat bread or the like after I have been strictly on lchf
  13. My batter was a bit dry so they were crumbly when I took them out of the pan initially but better once they had dried.
  14. Tea is good - I'm trying to cut milk cos it makes my nose run so I have about 15 different flavours of rooibos tea in my cupboard. Made low carb rusks on the weekend. Uses almond and coconut flour - not bad but couldn't get them to crisp as much as normal rusks.
  15. Silwer! Haai... We thort we had lost u
  16. So have one then - but just consider that it will form part of your carb intake and adjust elsewhere. Interestingly enough Uncle Tim says you can 1 1/2 apples or 2 Oranges but not much else if you want to stay below the 50-100g per day carb limit
  17. What are you LCHF goals? If weightloss then no Ideally one per day if you must. Do you like apples or looking for a filler?
  18. No that replacing a meal with Bullet Proof coffee is. His logic is sound and makes sense. I think on these kind of eating plans that go against the grain of what we have be taught it's always good to read and absorb what is said and written.
  19. I rode a 650b but it was too big for me - I thought I was on a 29er....
  20. I didn't get a pm asking me to vote - maybe I need to find my own club and design my own kit :'(
  21. Well did you see how pathetically they did the Pinarello insert on CB - would've been nice to have been at the debate. Read his book - I like what I read there made sense, even Opie advocated parts of the diet.
  22. I did and they don't have one in Cape Town :'(
  23. You see for me it boils down to who can offer me the bike to test and unfortunately Momsen does not have any test bikes in CT. Every one says Try before you buy but it's not all that easy to find bikes to do this with
  24. I have just the mug and I still looked at it and wondered if I should rather be using it
