  1. Everybody's favourite remedial groupset. If you can't change gear you must take the weight penalty. Oh and your mechanic doesn't need to know how to set gears now either
  2. I love it when somebody new joins the fray and really moves the thread to a whole other level, thank you Scooter69 for your ground breaking post.
  3. Local race bites the dust. I'll miss this one.
  4. Lance walks so somebody has to take the fall. Standard diversionary tactics.
  5. LA walks. AC is 'guilty' but will probably continue to race. Business as usual. Schleck gets a hollow tour win he probably doesn't deserve. No good news here.
  6. Wow, didn't see this coming. Still hard to believe he won't be riding for 2 years. Time to hand in the the old pistolero for deactivation? [Edit] Eldron's post is more or less exactly what I expected. Just an empty ruling with no real effect for AC or the people making a truckload of cash out of him.
  7. I don't think I'll do it. Too pricy, too far to go and too early to get up + not a league race so might as well get some sleep in and do something with the family.
  8. You cannot draft women, unless you're in Israel where cross-gender conscription is enforced.
  9. Not sure what your comment is hoping to achieve? They fall asleep and guys get hit by cars. Seen it happen before. Rationalising the situation isn't going to get us anywhere.
  10. Yes, the guys he trains are doing well, pro cyclists, amateurs, mx nationals, all killing it
  11. Not sure if I'm oversimplifying this, but if your front derailleur is giving you problems there are two limit screws which are designed to fix this. Set them correctly and you won't need a safety net for your chain.
  12. Better preparation on the part of the cyclists is a good point. I drink plenty of water for 2 days prior to any race, then knock back a bottle of energy drink before the start. During the race I rarely drink more than one or one and a half bottles.
  13. I quite liked the finish at this race - there was cold coke as usual at the finish, skulled two of those, the Cyclelab guys were kind enough to hook me up with another tin and Gerard Genis - legend - handed me a cold Amstel at the Outriders tent. Two tins of minute maid from the hot dog stand, a sprite and a tub of haagen daas from the Constantia Village Spar and I was ready to pedal home.
  14. He's been man down with the flu ever since he got pink in the SV league. It's been a hell of a job defending it these past two weeks.
  15. I've been told you can avoid this by shifting up the casette on the descent - it prevents the derailleur from flexing and the chain from bouncing around whilst you're free wheeling over the bumps.
  16. Thanks Johan, it sounds like your race played out very similarly to mine. Well done on your ride.
  17. only a soft-cock loser would behave like that and then brag about it online. what a ****, delivering justice in his shining 16v chariot of righteousness.
  18. Thanks, at 83kg I'm not really built to win these races. I do like my local events though.
  19. That is your opinion, and regardless of whether there are more shitty cyclists on the road, or more shitty drivers, I can tell you here and now, if you or anybody else is going to 'swerve towards' me you better hit me because if I get you out of your little tin can you won't be driving home.
  20. broke my oukaaps ascent record today by 30 seconds
  21. I'm saving all my medals so that when I am 90 I can dress up for Armistice day. I have my charity shop airforce uniform ready to go.
  22. molehills compared to everest too, but I don't think we'll be road racing up the mast or everest in the near future.
  23. You can still enter the Argus if you ride for the PinkDrive Breast Cancer Awareness Charity. You'll be helping a good cause so of course the late entry is not for nothing - you'll need to make a fundraising donation, but I've found it's easy to raise sponsorship money in the past and you'll get to the required 1k in no time. For more information contact Cecile - cecile@shoza.co.za or 011 998 8022. Alternatively visit the PinkDrive site for details.
  24. I would like to extend my thanks to the mad yanks and their tax dollars as there was huge entertainment value for me following this investigation I don't think the lid is shut on this story by a long shot.
  25. It is more like 500m from the robot.
