  3. I went with the safety glasses, used a dremel and removed some extra plastic on the sides for better ventilation, it works like a bom
  4. Yep I believe it was once described as a roadster for hooligans, I can be like a hooligan.
  5. Now I had a very similar experience, but with Mavic SLR's, now I am on Fulcrum Red Metals. Dang, it seems like I've gone from the fire into the frying pan, but the Fulcrum's at least does look a lot tougher.
  6. Well I weigh 112kg's and I take pride in the fact that I put my bike through punishment, especially downhill. I had a set of slr's on and they lasted well. I banged them hard on the rim and got a flat spot on the rear. They finally got a problem in that the rim cracked around the area where the spoke threads into the rim. I think at 85kg's you will be fine. At the CWC price I think it is definitely worth it. the cost and trouble of maintaining these rims is just a bit rough, you need to look after those hubs, they are great but they need love. I went over to Fulcrum Red Metal Xl's and they seem a bit stronger but also a bit heavier.
  7. Also try the Velotex factory shop, I bought some bibs there with GT branding on. Check the web for contact info and address.
  8. Sounds like the wheels. Thanks will give that lube thing a go.
  9. OK here's the story, I recently bought second hand wheelset, Mavic SLR's, had them serviced and are very happy. I am a heavy guy 110kg's and I ride a 26" DS, and I enjoy going down the hills rather than up, and if I get the opportunity to get my wheels off the ground I do. I am no DH racer though. The thing I do not understand is this, after a ride, the bike being stationary standing on it's own, the wheels sounds like it is "pinging" almost like a car after you have ridden it hard. Now I would like to think that I am that stong and that I do ride my bike so hard that it has to cool down after a ride, but I suspect that there might be another reason for this. Any ideas, and possibly warnings or remedies? Thanks B
  10. I think I need to get over at CWC and see if there is not something I need to buy. Great to know money you spend goes to good cause as well. Well done CWC
