  1. I run 2.5's on 23mm id rims and i fall in the heavy category 115kg plus range (have not weighed for a while) i ride on 2bar pressure and have not had any problems and i enjoy giving it down hill over rocks etc. Grip is good, especially now that i replaced those old Hans Damph's. Now running Maxis Aggressors and Assegai's very happy so far.
  2. Well i got it all wrong then. I got the gloves first and the bike later. Many years ago when i first went mountain biking (on a makro type bike around the dam above coetzenburg) i went over the bars and landed on my hands. I had quite a bit of gravel lodged in my palms. I went and bought gloves the next day. I bought a Gary Fisher only about two weeks later. Gloves and bibs i will not cycle without.
  3. if you look carefully in front of the LR there is a black streak that looks like a crack in the tiles, it is not, it's the oil leaving the vehicle, trying to find dignity elsewhere.
  4. Lekker Slowbee My 105 did some duty at the Berg kwagga park outside Cradock, this past weekend. It was tough driving back yesterday, I told my wife I just wanted to carry on driving and visiting all the Karoo Towns
  5. Rouxenator… I started my mountain biking hobby in the mountains of Stellenbosch in 1991, yes still on CrMo, frames with no suspension. Every time you post your daily commute I go serious envious of your trip. I both hate and love it. You are blessed my man, enjoy it.
  6. Duisende mynwerkers en studente kan nie verkeerd wees nie.
  7. What Buff said, on the masking tape. I just used a good quality normal masonary bit (Alphen), tried all the rest, diamond, spear etc. Just start with small bit and drill trough the tape, do not blow the dust away. Tip your bit in water frequently, so you form a paste with the dust, once you are into the glazing it goes quick. basically create a drilling paste, keep your bit cool, and keep the paste wet worked best for me had to do all the fittings in two bathrooms
  8. Bacon...Ribs...and Lamb Chops... I normally only braai over weekends, but now I might make an exception, tonight might be braaitime.
  9. Not quite sure on how to respond to your posts. very bold statements you are making, i can only hope that it is ignorance
  10. only one reply to this post... Turn or burn.
  11. 2.5 x 2.5 is well enough for three people, also easier to erect.
  12. My best Dorsberg memory. You heavier guys will appreciate this. one morning on my way to dorsberg, I came across a guy on his way to meerendal in the Kenridge area, so we decided to travel together. Now to put this into perspective, at the time I weighed about 115kg's and the guy who joined was much the same. Upon reaching the top of dorsberg, now understand to get my bulk up that hill, no stopping, takes some effort, we ended up hanging unto the bench just trying to catch some breath. Whilst doing this a thin scrawny guy came wizzing up, greeted us very friendly and proceeded to go back down again, not looking tired at all. Not feeling great about my suffering my new riding mate made the best comment ever. He told me that he took a dump that morning that weighed more than that bloke.

  20. There was a very well known South African cyclist who, when he started cycling was called Pierre Besuidenhoud......
  21. Slightly more Afrikaans
  22. Welcome Quade Northern suburbs is great, on bike and into great single track. Have a look at Loevenstein/ Welgemoed. It is close to all the access roads and Telkom recently installed optic fibre, so your internet issues should be fine. Houses are within your requirements, leafy with +/- 1300 m2 size plots. Also great schools in the area.
  23. Ek het gewonder wanneer jy weer 'n nuwe bike kry?
  24. MT tyres are not as bad as they are made out to be ito road holding, dry or wet, or fuel consumption. Slightly noisy but not much different than AT's if you ask me, but then again I drive a 4x4 not a platkar or pocket rocket and drive it like it should be driven on tar. Off road they are much better when it comes to grip, sand, rocks and mud. I would be slightly cautious in increasing the size on an automatic though. It messes a little with the gear changes and revs but not too drastic if you keep it sane.
  25. I will offer a solution, based on some experience I had many years ago. See I use to deliver newspapers in the afternoons, in PE, come wind (and there was plenty) or rain or sunshine and the same dam hills every afternoon. My steed as an old 26" steel jobbie, one gear an only a back brake. That thing could bunny hop and negotiate pavements, driveways and gardens like no other, it even beat my old BMX. Problem was that the front hub went, and delivering news papers to fund my sport, meant no money for my steed, so it ended up with a 24" front wheel and 26" In the back. So I recon, 26" or 650 in front, and 29 in back. Give you steering in the front and big wheel push in the back for speed. Plus you are going downhill most of the time.
