  1. did over 500 k's today in the car on business. thought this thread would of hit 10 pages by now. dissapointed.
  2. So there I was climbing a little bump on conterman’s when I’m joined (maybe attacked is a better word) by a mtb’er all in black. He went past but wasn’t strong enough to gap me. Halfway up I could see he was struggling becos he was weaving to the side and gearing down and then he gobbed. So I went up next to him and asked him ‘was that really necessary’? he rips out his earphone and says ‘hey boet you came up behind me how must I know where you were’? now what kind of dogkcuf logic is that. So mr mtb’er all in black here are a few tips that you must take with u in your cycling life: When attacking a small hill , climb it in a gear so that you maintain a steady cadence (maybe you didn’t notice that I was in my bigblade). When tired, don’t gear down , gear up and stand. Be kind to fellow road users , especially cyclists. You might need them when u trouble. I’ve been riding Contermans for donkey years, I’ve never seen you before and hope to never again.

    Argus 2014

22nd one for me, doin it on the tandem with my daughter. my son still trying for a sub 3.
  4. like i said - do it in your immediate geographic area - forget about CSA. wrt the article. hmmm. i'll say no more.
  5. you mean he offered his services to CSA. in this day & age in SA sports u cross your t's and dot your i's so when the Dept of Sport call u in and discuss certain things you can show them that their development and transformation "agenda" was followed in all it's aspects. i can guarantee u no-one outside of cycling (and many inside as well) would know who Gary Blem is.
  6. cycling is a small 'game' and i know most of the people involved (or were) in the WP & surrounds. one thing that puzzled me over the years and still does, are people who volunteer their services as a committee member, promise the earth & then at the first sign of any disagreement aren't man enough to stand their ground and work out their differences and work from within. they would rather resign their post and then stir the pot from outside & that helps no-one. try & make make a difference in your own immediate geographical areas. period. then CSA will come to you. if you really want the unpaid volunteer post at CSA then take it.
  7. any news on the AGM
  8. Road races do cost more to organise if you throw money at it. the wpca winter league generated R62 000 in entry fees and we paid out R30 000 in prize money. it was run on a shoe string budget with many volunteers from clubs. it wasn't as grand as the ppa leagues or the recent light by linea but the model works. with the way things are moving racing will take off. just got confirmation that a timing system to blow your brooks off has been purchased.
  9. agree with you 100%, i have been a member of the PPA and of a cycling club affiliated to CSA since 1989 and it would be sad if cycling people are not able to work together. at this stage of the year - we have been informed that road events have been cancelled etc etc and no league - the reasons don't make sense to me. the wpca & ppa worked together last year for spring league , why not this year? if they did, would it harm their court case? there will be spring road races - ppa are losing customers, will they get them back?

    Argus 2014

got the sub 3's argus as well & to me that was more of an achievement than to complete 21 (i skipped a few in the teens becos i wasn't lus for sitting in the start pens at 4.45am) so now i do it for the fun. imho i'm in the club BUT they must design a new cycling jersey if they want ME to buy it. Congratulations on completing your 21st Cycle Tour earlier this year, and on behalf of all our existing members, I welcome you to CLUB 21. Well done on your fine achievement and thank you for waiting patiently for this correspondence. Your passion for cycling, makes what we do, worthwhile! Find attached documents regarding your CLUB 21 Life Membership status for your attention. Kindly read these carefully and save them for future reference! Where required, kindly complete and return by the closing date as indicated please. Here are pointers to assist you, in your interaction with CLUB 21: - The WELCOMING LETTER explains in detail what you need to know. - The FAQ’s, helps you to understand what happens next. - For Saving your Documents, please use the same File Names as supplied. - When opening the APPAREL ORDER FORM, you may have to click on the “ENABLE EDITING” button first at the top of your screen, in order to make your choices. - Once the Apparel Order Form is open, use your UP & Down arrows to move between the YELLOW blocks. Then CLICK on the block to expose the Drop-Down menus. Here you can click on your selected Size and Quantity. - You will notice that the “Amounts” Columns & “Totals” Blocks will automatically be calculated for you! - Based on our experience, when choosing your size, the Guys generally need to upsize on their BLUE CLUB 21 JERSEY by a size. i.e. if you normally wear a LARGE, rather order an XTRA LARGE, etc. However, the Ladies seem to get theirs right! Look out for the prompt text boxes to help you. This year, we have included in a Size Chart to assist you in choosing correctly. - In the event should you ordered apparel not fit, we do make extra units for size-swopping, should you need to up or down size. - Please use your “CLUB 21 Membership Number & Name” as your Reference Number on your EFT POP (Electronic Funds Transfer Proof of Payment). It helps us when sorting & matched your payment. - Where possible, kindly submit electronic copies of all your documentation. If not, then print out, fill in by hand and fax to the Fax2eMail Number provided. Alternatively, post a copy to the Postal Address as given, together with your cheque or over-the-counter deposit slip. Please note, that “no cash in the post” is accepted. - Finally, if anything is unclear and/or if you have any questions, then you are welcome to send an e-mail for my attention. CLUB 21 looks forward to meeting you next year at the 37th Cycle Tour and more importantly, on the eve of your 22nd ride! Why give up something you really enjoy? And, remember to keep those wheels spinning for many more years to come!

  14. HHMMM.....it was "business as usual" from the ppa in one of its most recent communications. if they haven't made up their minds by now i can't see 'league' racing happening for the T D Worcester.
  15. one of my mates called the ppa today to enquire about "league" entries and the person he spoke to couldn't say whether the t d worcester will be a league event or not. i think this is the beginning of the end.
