  1. http://extremelights.gocommerce.co.za/wp-content/uploads/sites/66/2013/09/light2-800x300.jpg We are planning to build the best cycle light under the moon! From the most efficient LED’s, latest battery technology, a redesigned secure clamp and high quality carry bag. The Extreme 3000 will be our next flag ship product. However, we need your help to make this happen. In the past we built similar and impressive lights in-house, on a small scale. … We would like to manufacture this new light in a factory that meets ISO9000 standards, on a larger scale. In order to do this we need to meet minimum order quantities, which requires a substantial investment. To get the quantities we need, we are offering a opportunity to place a pre-order for this light. To place a pre-order just follow this link Extreme 3000 pre-orders http://youtu.be/upQpoA-bxMQ Extreme 3000 7 x Cree XM-L2 offers : 7 Cree XM-L2 U2 Led with a combined efficiency of 158 Lumen per watt. 3000 Real lumen produced by the LEDs Most advanced battery pack. Capacity 10200mAh in 340g. With rubber shell and high quality pouch. Runtime over 3h30 min for a light battery weighing under 500g Fixed clamp and Quick release mount for easy access. High quality material carry bag. Light head. It has no less than 7 Cree XM-L2 U2 LEDs which can in theory produce 8400 Lumen if powered to there maximum. The benefit of running them at lower power levels translate to massive increased efficiency. The co-working 7 LED results in a combined efficiency 190% compared to a normal single Cree XM-L. The unit is made out of aircraft quality aluminium which is anodized to HA III military grade. http://extremelights.gocommerce.co.za/wp-content/uploads/sites/66/2013/09/light2-502x502.jpg Battery pack One of the most overlooked and under rated elements of a light is the battery pack. No matter how amazing the light is, if you do not have sufficient power, the light will not perform. With this light we have spared no expense when it comes to the battery pack. We have selected the highest quality li-ion batteries available in the market. The battery pack consist of 6 Panasonic Li-Ion 3400mAh 18650 cells encased in a thick rubber shell for water protection. The battery pack has a total capacity of 10200mAh. Compared to standard cells which have a capacity of 2200mAh per cell, that is a power to weight increase of 155%. Effectively the 6 cell battery pack has the same power as a 10 cell battery pack but weighs under 340g. http://www.extremelights.co.za/wp-content/uploads/sites/66/2013/07/6-cell-battery-New-2.jpg Mounting We have redesigned the mounting to allow a sturdy attachment, quick fitment and removal. It will fit any size handle bar as well as prevent the unit from moving regardless of the terrain. http://www.extremelights.co.za/wp-content/uploads/sites/66/2013/09/Clamp.jpg Carry bag The light will be supplied with a high quality material bag. http://www.extremelights.co.za/wp-content/uploads/sites/66/2013/09/Bag.jpg All details are subject to change. Pictures provided are conceptual only and may not be exactly the same as the final product. http://www.extremelights.co.za/wp-content/uploads/sites/66/2013/09/ORDER.png

  3. Don't GF carbon frames have a lifetime warranty?
  4. Sure I give best estimation on light from the LED. Ignore the optical losses and thermal efficiency at higher Temperature levels. That is in my opinion a lot closer than making up number just to claim higher lumen. I mean to go from an LED that actually produce 600 lumen to claiming 1200 which is not even based on theoretical Maximum?
  5. The subject of lumens really pushes my more-rometer in to the red. I will be first to admit that I have made my mistakes in the past when it comes with estimating outputs of a light. And notably this year with run-times but I make a best effort and correct it later if I find out what the real values are. But claiming 1200 lumen from a SSC P7 that can hardly do 600, 3800 lumen from 3 XML which at best will be 2000. 6000 lumen of a light which harldy does 1/3 is absurdity is it not? Next thing is the absurdness over claims on battery capacity 12000mAh from a china pack? If you bought true Panasonic 18650 the best price you can buy it for on ebay is R100 per cell excluding postage. Assuming you buy a +1000 it is safe to say the pack should cost excluding assembly, postage and tax minimum of R600. A cheap china 8cell battery pack with capacity of 5000mAh-7000mA will cost R300 including postage and tax. Why is it ok to buy the one but claim the other? At what point should the customers say no? Is there no law or body that prohibits such actions? Does no one enforce it? Too some extend I understand that if you are in one country you can claim what you like in another country. But when you are based in South Africa and you advertise here surly you should be under some obligation to be within some proximity of the claim you make. Lastly why are consumers so gullible to believe these claims. I can understand the general Jan-rap-en-sy-Maat in the street. But Hubbers are a but more educated I would hope. But yet the advertisements pop up and very-few even contest it. And even if some do the rest still buy regardless.

  7. If you are in a team you don't need a huge amount of light. Something like this will work great. http://www.extremeli...-bicycle-light/ You can use it on low mode for most of the ride but when you descend you can go high mode. Get an extra battery. They are only R150 now. http://www.extremeli...v-battery-pack/ Light will not be you limiting factor. More is nice and safer. Hope that helps
  8. Just a remonder. Only 400 like to go
  9. When we get another 500 likes. Considering how quickly we got to 1500 likes I would say soon
  10. Kool well likes are running up quickly
  11. You can win our new model by liking our facebook page. When we reach 2000 like we will close the competition. The Extreme2400 It is all about Efficiency. 5 x Cree XML U2 LEDs are 60% more efficient than one Cree XML T6 at similar power levels.
  12. haha that happened to me once. I modified a light to pump out about 10,000 lumen but I did something wrong with the thermal protect(not working) so the light kooked it self and desolder everything about 10km for my house. Good idea. Mod a new monster light Bad idea go cycling alone with only that light At the end I was lucky. some riders fond me crawling down a single track It is amazing how dark it is after using 10k Lumen on a single track.
  13. I realize it must be very confusing with the extravagant levels of over claims on lumen going about. Making it nearly impossible to compare lights between suppliers. People seems to hide behind the false claims made by the indiscriminate manufacturer's. It is so funny how the competition just makes numbers bigger to sell. In the beginning there was some truth to it. Like claiming 1000 lumen for an Cree XM-L T6 that has a theoretical max of 970 lumen under lab conditions. But now you get the same design claiming 1200, 1600 or even 2000 lumen. There seems to be absolutely no relation to the actual output and what is claimed. Then you get those 4.2V lights that looks the same but after a small amount of use the output half's making even 600lumen claims to be wish full thinking. On gumtree and bid or buy you get people that double even that. Claiming 6000 lumen out of a 3 xml light using a 4 cell battery. Haha. Define ridiculous. I laughed so much when I read on the hub some seller explain how a 3800 Lumen light can have the same runtime out of the same battery as a 1200. I nearly wet myself. He explained how the driver is better and the lens made it possible or something like that. Somehow making more lumen(Light energy) out of nothing. He did not even know that 3 leds are about 20% more efficient than 1 at the same power level. But not 3x more! I was so hoping someone would start a rant that i made my self popcorn. But it never got going.
  14. Well yes. But at a cost to weight. I am getting high quality 4 cells again in the next two weeks. It should extend the runtime to 5h on high with no added weight. The 8 cell will give you close to 7h on high. There is a new model coming. The Extreme1400. It is landing in 2 weeks time I hope. http://www.extremelights.co.za/shop/extreme-1400/ The Extreme 1400 was designed to be brighter and run longer than the Extreme 1200, but with no added weight. Emitting 1100 lumen for 5 hours and only weighing 340 grams, it hit the goal!
  15. The strap will be improved in future models. So if you have not contacted us yet for a replacement please do so. I am eager to make sure our lights keep you on the track.
  16. So who is doing this race this year? Anyone feels like using a lights setup from Extremeligths? Extreme2000 (6600mAh) 3h for handle bar + Extreme1200(4400mAh) 3h for helmet mount. With extra batteries for charging while you are doing a lap. If you have an entry post Your Name and and team name and we will choose randomly by the end of Wednesday. http://media.someammo.com/be1a9d71f70c/front-view-2_630W.jpg http://media.someammo.com/996c59fe96b5/1200-front_630W.jpg
  17. I can't believe the year is on its back
  18. Gee, just goes to show. I did not even know about some mentioned so far.
  19. No it has 9x Cree XML the China manufacturers claim 9000 to 11000 lumen. That is a load of B's. Standard it produces 3500 lumen because it only gets about 35w from the OEM driver. But we have a modified version where we have installed a high power driver. Total power used is 60w and if you ignore optical and thermal losses it produces 9x666 lumen. That is about 5997 lumen from the LED's. But to be honest if you take in to consideration that the LEDS are running hot and that the reflector is not perfect you should get more than 5000 Lumen. Sorry the idea of this thread was not to market but if you want to read more go to www.extremelights.co.za/products/ultimate-9-led-9000-lumen-flash-light There is a problem with burning 60w of power and that is heat and runtime. You can't expect it to run much longer than a 1h and even if you did try the over temperature will kick in and dim the light. It takes about 10 to 15min to get to hot so it is not a major problem. The lowest mode will produce about 650 real lumen and run for 10h. Just nice having a light that can kill a bug with out having to crush it.
  20. This is a flash light question!!! Not a bike light. difference is that a flash-light has the batteries in the tail and doubles as a moerring tool. Something like this: +5000 real lumen 900g that is about Size. 320mm long. http://media.someammo.com/a4a7f3c5cdcb/img_5944_630W.jpg This is a moerring tool that has a flash light build in.
  21. Led Lenser added. ok vote for them to :-)
  22. Flashlights are a welcome gift to give so I was wondering which is your favorite flash light brand?
