  1. Me thinks you got put in AL, that's why you're so smug! ...are you scared of competition?
  2. Are you implying that the Race4Victory should become an individual time trial event...
  3. I've also been seeded in GL together with 2 other mates, who normally ride in A-group. I'm not sure what methodology they used for this event's seeding, but it is a joke!
  4. If you left it late, this is the race to do if you're looking for a good seeding in this year's 94.7.

I agree - there was parking in abundance, ample toilet facilities, the group start times happened as scheduled, and the marshals were out in full strength. My only gripe is that I wish I could've pushed harder in the final 6km's, but that's something I need to work on

3h25 is a respectable time, considering the mishap. Good going

The bumps appear just after the entrance to Tarlton. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly where the 1st watering point is going to be, by looking at the route map they posted, but it is in that vicinity.

D2D times should be a few minutes quicker than 94.7 due to 200m less elevation, and 1-2km shorter distance. But again, that's in ideal conditions...a little wind could through that theory off
  10. "Every time there is a rising spike in power, you are expending more energy than if you rode with perfect steadiness and no spike at all. Average power doesn’t account for these minute changes in power and therefore in the energy you used to pedal. Normalized Power does. The concept of Normalized Power is critical for power meter training because it reveals the true effort of a ride by accounting for variability." - The Power Meter Handbook by Joe Friel
  11. I got it through ebay, but I see the price has gone up drastically...probably as a result of the rand's performance. In my opinion any suspension training system will do the trick, and youtube has a number of vids explaining what exercises you can do.
  12. I bought mine online, but sportsmanswarehouse has a similar product called rip60
  13. Check out the TRX suspension training system - It doesn't cost an arm an a leg, doesn't require a lot of space, and you can give your whole body a thorough workout - http://www.trxtraining.com
  14. That's good to know - I raced Stonehaven a few times in the past. I never knew they were timed events.
  15. I bought my first road bike last year, and my mtb has started gathering dust since. If you're into competing, road racing is the way too go. It's too frustrating racing on single track...
  16. That makes two four of us !
  17. A pal of mine also "ran out of talent" yesterday afternoon at the spruit. Cost him 11 stitches over his left eye. It happens to the best of us. I'm glad assistance was close at hand. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

This is going to be my kick-off race for this season. Looking forward to it. Times should be very similar to 94.7...but it all depends on the weather conditions that day.
  19. Breaking Away is still my favourite - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078902/
