  1. Hi Guys We now have a group of 50 plus cyclists who would like to be refunded. Please join the group and add your details to the Google Forms link if you’d like a refund. Did you enter the Tshwane Classic 2022? Would you like a refund ? I With this in mind, I am compiling a list of all entrants who wish to be refunded so we can take the process forward. For now, please join the group, I will keep you informed of progress with the matter and would also like your name for an open letter to Hectic Promotions from their customers which will be disseminated publicly stating our case and humbly requesting that we are refunded. Here is the link to the list of people who would like a refund. Please enter your details here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdHMAiLIyATY50q-BxQI0tFTtH1_QP3acqkh08JwZ10FZ9ZfA/viewform?usp=sf_link https://chat.whatsapp.com/JcdwluIu2tV00JzfiOcQbq https://www.iol.co.za/pretoria-news/news/cyclists-dejected-by-11th-hour-tshwane-classic-bicycle-race-postponement-bbceb592-6d6a-4310-ab45-0fe61bce3604
  2. I have mailed the organizers asking for a full refund. The issue here is that you cannot get clients to waive their CPA rights by signing contracts. It is difficult to contest because it is unlikely that anyone will contemplate defending their CPA rights over R400. Some organizers try to get around this by stating that if the event is cancelled on the day as a result of health and safety issues then they will not refund you. This is contrary to the spirit of the CPA which is not interested in WHY the event was cancelled, only that consumers are protected from paying for goods and services and then not receiving them, whatever that reason may be. My interpretation is that we are legally entitled to a refund, whatever the organizers say. This relates specifically to protection afforded to South African consumers by the CPA. Think about it. They organized and advertised an event that they then cancelled three hours before the start. There were no storms, snow, fires, Russian missiles, etc. In my opinion the only reason they didn’t proceed is that it was a speculative exercise where they probably decided to not go ahead if they didn’t have the numbers. This is not on. You cannot takes money from over 1000? people under such circumstances and glibly refuse refunds because you didn’t get sufficient numbers. Let’s not kid ourselves about the postponed event. The reputational damage sustained will put paid to anyone being interested in Tshwane Classic 2022: The Sequel 😱
  3. Hi Hubbers Can anyone take a bike from Jozi down to George over the next few months?
  4. Crikey. Super tough day. What kit/bike were you on?
  5. 30 entries so far! You can do line entries on the day at the Nigel Wimpy. Three other points: 1. The route leaves and returns at the back of the Wimpy 2. Please park at the back of the Wimpy, by the Home Industry Shop. 3. Note the new loop at the start, along the Nigel-Dunnottar Road, and through the industrial area of Nigel, before getting onto the Devon stretch
  6. Here is the latest route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/25999218 We added a loop through Nigel.
  7. Audax 200km BRM Sunday 15/10/17 0600 Nigel Wimpy The next installment in 'the series that never ends' is a 200km road ride starting at the Nigel Wimpy at 0600, and taking in Devon, and Balfour, before the famous NG Church stop in Greylingstad, where a fine brunch/lunch will be available in exchange for a donation to the Church. We then retrace the route back to Nigel. The route is flat and fast and is great way to get in some miles before the 94.7. 8. The Audax Max 2017, Gauteng's first 1000km Audax cycling event, finished last night with Marius Koorts, Leonard Welthagen, Ernest Stipp, Mauritz Lombard, and Wimpie Sander crossing the line in 67h29. The legendary Salim Shaikjee crossed the line in 71h25. He had ridden the last 300km on his own. We are grateful that the two crashes on the course, resulting in the riders concerned not being able to continue, were not too severe. This is probably not the most appropriate way to describe riders picking up concussions, but we are nevertheless truly grateful that they are hale and hearty today. Special thanks to our amazing support team: Leana Strydom Hanscomb, Barry Shaw, and Pawel Wuzyk. For more details about ultradistance cycling in South Africa: www.audaxsa.co.za
