  5. Hi Guys I have not ridden here before. Those of you whom have, is this race comparable with the Monster and / or the Van Gaalens Ultra Marathon?
  6. Hi guys I urgently need some info. Does anyone know what these bikes retail for? Kind regards Pieter
  7. Hi guys! Sounds like everyone is getting hyped for the race. My second Monster Marathon and looking forward to it alot! Friend of mine and training partner doing his first Monster Marathon! I have noted that it is 5km longer than last year..anyone familiar with the extra 5km? Just hope it isn't more sand, sand and sand... Last year cramps got the better of me as a result of "bok koors" but this year we are gonna pace ourselves properly. What an awesome race, especially the last rewarding 25m... Any insight on the extra 5ks will be appreciated! Cheers and have a good race!
  8. Hi guys! also doing my first. never knew about the car shuttle service and just saw that it is now closed. Sent them an email and awaiting a response. looking for a car shuttle substitution if anyone is not using theirs anymore and want to sell. As a backup.. I see that we have really bad weather on day 2... any tips? Any advice from the vets?
  9. Hi Guys We are a few pals entering our first cross triathlon. Have any of you taken part in this one? If so, how was it? It doesn't seem as if there is a route profile available... How does it work iro the transition etc? Do we need wetsuits or will the trisuits do the thing? Will appreciate any advice / input! Cheers PL
  10. Hi Guys I have replaced my casette and chain on saturday. Both now brand new. For some reason the chain slips on 7 to 9th gear, under pressure. I run 3x9. Both chain and casette XT. Any advice as to a cure? Regards
  11. Hi guys We rode in the Drakensberg this past weekend and took on alot of mud! Short and long, my chain now gets stuck between the lower rear stay and my front blades (i.e. when the relevant portion of the chain leaves the front blades to return to the jockey) and there is a terrible grinding sound as and when I put presure on the pedals. I anticipate that the chain might have gone but Im not sure... Can someone offer me some advice? Kind regards
  12. Jip! they have this special running! Its incredible! Think all should strike whilst its hot...
  13. Well, I guess not that hectic, only really steep at some stages compared to what I am used to...
  14. Hi Guys On the eve of the festive season and as the sun came up on my summer holiday training season I had an incident at the Big Read Barn on one of those hectic down hill sections. Needless to say I sustained some damage. I took my bike to Hannes at Hot Spot Cycles (Pretoria) on Monday, he assessed the damage and quoted me in respect of same. I service my bike there regularly and his service and attitude is truly excellent and unparalleled. Thereafter I lodged the claim with King Price today, also with a guy called Hannes. It must not have been 30 min when he returned my call confirming that all was in order, the admin was completed and that I may proceed to instruct Hot Spot to fix my bike and that they would pay the amount due by them (the invoice amount excluding my minute excess) to me on this coming Monday. In my experience, when compared to other service providers, I received quick, efficient, seamless service and value (for money) from both the aforesaid service providers. Usually I do not have a lot of praise to sing for insurance companies, especially when I read other posts of guys' past experiences with their insurers. I have been with King Price now for approximately 1 year. This was my first claim instituted and if everything continues and remains as seamless as my experience of today, I may very well undergo a change of heart. I can truly recommend King Price. I am really impressed! Excellent service! Well done guys! Cheers and safe cycling
  15. Hi guys! Tim you and your team can be very proud of how you took the input from the riders after last year's event and what you hosted for us this year. Thank you for all the effort, I am sure that you guys do not hear this often enough but you can be sure that each of us sincerely appreciate everything that you put in to host these events! It was truly a great day out and an awesome race! We are all excited and looking forward to a great season next year! I'll be gunning for the 2014 columbia T! Cheers
  16. It is still not working.... I am looking to enter for the 70km, my brother in law and a friend for the 40km and my wife for the 20km so I hope we will still manage to get some...
  17. This is great! Fantastic to see the cycling community stand up! I'm there and will be spreading the news! I think it would also be a great idea to notify the LBS in and around Pta to get them to send some communication out to their club members... What are your guys' thoughts?
  18. Howzit guys! Also tried to enter but the online entry process is MIA. Anyone know when it would be up and running?
  19. Condolences. May God be with the family in this time.
  20. Hi Guys! Having regard to the updated route and the taking out of the technical decent, what would you guys rate it if you would give the Monster 10/10? Moreover, my front brake is MIA, are the decents of such a nature that I would be at risk? Contemplating entering, but want to be sure! Thanks in advance! Cheers
  21. Hi Martin! Het jou boodskap net te laat gekry! Volgende keer is ek daar! Groete Pieter
  22. A good friend of mine likes to tell this story about his math teacher at school, who was also a cyclist, whom always told them as students that people who elect to ride without helmets illustrate that they have nothing to protect (translated loosely from afrikaans). True or not, a helmet should not be negotiable!
  23. Hi guys I have been pondering building a nice 29 dual sus. Seems like the FM 036 (D-Fung) is quite popular. Also saw a"Titan" on Carbonal which looks like a potentially very good looking bike... Are there any specific frames which any of you can recommend and a possible reference to pricing if possible? Thank you in advance!
  24. Hi Rouxtjie Thanks a million for this, I sincerely appreciate it! Thinking of riding it at least a few times before the race itself! Haven't ridden at VG yet so should go and try it out first! Again, thanks alot!
  25. I would appreciate it if you would share the 70 profile if you've done it? Thanks in advance!
