  1. Thanks! Most of the finishers I've talked to agree that the race profile is an understatement of the actual race I was actually thinking of doing the Staalwater if I can fit it in, so I hope it works out well
  2. We should make a plan some time! We mostly ride around Durbanville, Stellenbosch, etc, so I'm not too familiar with where you ride. Will be cool to explore some new tracks I'm very flexible regarding hours, so if we can get a couple guys together for next weekend maybe, we should talk. I also only leave work at 5, so if we can do a 5:30 every now and then I'll probably be able to join in the week, seeing as its starting to get dark a bit later and all
  3. Do you guys ever do weekend rides together?
  4. Think I might approach it in the same way. Thanks again for the info!
  5. Cool, thanks a lot for the info! What kind of training would you suggest if I'm aiming at about 5:30 finishing time? How is the nutrition at the water points? Any good?
  6. If this weekend is on us to soon we can fix next week Saturday or Sunday?
  7. Big rain forecasted for Sunday, and I think I'm gonna have to miss Sunday early. Is Saturday convenient?
  8. Cool, thanks a lot, will keep that in mind. So you suggest some serious hill training? Can you remember how much the climbing amounted to last year?
  9. Hi Guys I'll be doing my first K2C in September, and obviously want to get in some decent training. I'm thinking of 2 or 3 rides around the 100km mark, but being a former roadie, I'm not to sure whereabouts to go. Can you achieve this distance at Koeberg, or must you work around it a bit? How about around Durbanville? Any routes (mostly gravel, etc) you guys can suggest? Thanks!
  10. Awesome stats, enjoyed having a look!
  11. Haha!!
  12. I think i might add that I'm looking at 26", not 29er?
  13. Thanks for all that! I guess preference comes with experience? As I said, I've only ever used Shimano, but think I might have a go or two on my friends bike, he recently converted to SRAM. Once again, thanks! I learned a lot.
  14. Sorry about that... I've got a BMC Team Elite 02... Lovely Frame, and a Rock Shox Recon fork. the shock is about a year old, so it's still good. You think I need to look at a better shock perhaps?
  15. Haha, sounds good Guess I'll be sticking to Shimano then. Any wheel sets you guys can recommend? around the R4000 mark?
  16. Thanks a lot for the info! I must admit, never had any SRAM component before. But I'm willing to give it a go. If I'm not bugging you too much, whats the biggest advantage SRAM has over Shimano in your opinion? I'm really itching for those Havens, especially with the discount CRC offers
  17. What I was also thinking! Any good wheels you could recommend? I was looking at Easton (as a brand in general), and see there are some decent specials on lines like the Easton EA90 XC MTB Wheelset 2011, Easton Haven MTB Wheelset 2011, etc
  18. Hi Guys I'm in need of some advice: I want to upgrade my MTB, and have to choose between a new groupset, or some decent wheels. I'm not too concerned about the weight difference, I'm more about smoothness, comfort level, control, etc. At the moment I've got a (mostly) Shimano XT groupset, and some pretty solid Mavic Wheels, and I'm leaning more towards new wheels. Any advice and/or recommendations will be appreciated! Thanks
  19. Bought some 32GI Endurance from Dischem last week...was just over R200
  20. Haha, thanks for the tips I'm sure its gonna be very muddy and dirty, but a nice long weekend should do me good. Guess I'll be taking some extra stuff to clean my bike as I go, maybe it will work. Good luck to all of you who are going!
  21. Hi Guys Doing my first Knysna Oyster Festival race next weekend (50km). Any tips regarding the race profile, nutrition, etc? Thanks!
