With the Tuesday being the public holiday, makes for a nice long weekend.
  2. The picture is of the remote enabled shock. Standard has a manual toggle, much like the RP23. Fox has an option on a remote that doubles as the remote for the Float front fork, 1 click does both fork and shock. It's chunky and huge but looks good once mounted on a really wide bar. Looks k@k on a narrow bar. Operation above or below the bar either left or right. The remote enabled shock and handle bar mount are a grand extra but is available with the fork at the grand so you only pay R300 extra for the shock, R1,300 extra if no fork. Interestingly, the remote also works the DOSS dropper, C=0, T=40mm, D=full down.1 lever for all 3 shock, fork and seat. I haven't tried the fox remote on a Rock Shox to lock out the fork yet. Next week. Have a look at these bottle cages: http://www.thehubsa....ttle-cages-22g/ 3k gloss, 22g, secure as TheV's grip on his suppliers....land next week.
  3. I've built all my c29s bikes with the CTD (Climb Trail Descend), it is a big step up from the RP23 I had on my tallboy. 3 simple settings for full lockout, normal and open. Is available with the Fox remote on the dashboard. Just stunning. See if you can get this shock with the frame they are sending you.
  4. We will all feel better when you deliver our bling.....even if it's not XTR
  5. We need to be vigilant and find these ******* ruining our country. It sickens me to read this happening in our neighbourhood on our trails. It is absolutely critical to: always ride with a buddy when out later and there are not people around make sure you have proper insurance for your bike, at least it will lessen the pain of the loss knowing you can get a brand new one

Starting at the back is a 'mare. But so is starting in A group, those young racing snakes just go. And go. And then they starting going fast. Goodie bags? There were no goodie bags when we got there around 4:30pm. Also the food running out is rubbish. We went for dinner at 8 and they could still have fed another 1.000 people with the amount of spag bol in the kitchen.

  8. Yes, it's a simple remove and replace on Stans wheels, the hub is built for a 15mm axle and then reduced to 9mm. At that weight go for Arch EX, Crest will not work for long.
  9. the problem with 29ers... is they are just too damn fast! And they slow down the rotation of the earth.

In the great hall, at registration.
  11. I have stripped and sprayed many a white fork.....no weight gain and stickers are replaceable.....
  12. At 70kg the Crest is fine for you. However the Arch EX weighs in at 80g more and have a newer rim design than the Crest which effectively means a bullet proof wheel for yourself. Having the Arch EX also makes your bike more saleable as fatties can look at it without having to worry about changing the wheels. I have had Crest on my TallBoy and now have Arch EX on my c29s. Happy that the Arch EX is stronger.
  13. On a black Santa Cruz? The only option is a Carbon Lefty... BTW Check with me for a price on the Fox with Kashima coating if you do go that way...

And miss out on the hospitality offered by the good folk of Uniondale? The spag bol dinner must be the highlight of the spring racing season.

2 days of light rain to settle the dust and compact the dirt freeway....before a nice cold Saturday night at 3 degrees. Sunday, clear sunny but very cold to start.

The K2C route in reverse is the quickest way to drive from Knysna to Uniondale.
  17. Unless you get over their amount limit and then they pay shipping!
  18. Rapid Rob are the old Racing Ralph tread pattern without being tubeless ready. The beading may be an issue with a conversion or you may not have enough sealant in each tyre. Check out the video (http://www.notubes.com/helpcenter.aspx?video=3) on Stans site to make sure you have got sealant over both insides of the tyre.

That's why you need a CampMaster in your group. He takes away all the hassle through being good at logistics. Drive to Uniondale, set up camp, eat and party, sleep, breakfast, ride, meet driver in Knysna (who has packed up the race village) with esky full of tinnies, get car keys, transfer to B&B and party some more!
  20. You have a choice of Jagwire, Shimano or Alligator Most shops are out of stock as the distributors stuff has not arrived yet. Saw some at Olympic on Friday. 021 671 5008

You turn up and pitch your tent on the showgrounds fields. For free. Be careful though, as you enter the showgrounds there is a caravan park / camp site to your left with some oke charging to get you a place. You can pay him and stay there. Or you drive past him and his little table and go onto the showgrounds where registration is. DON'T pay, camp for free. Only noobs get caught and pay to camp.
