Stratus, I agree. The initial climb was much tougher than Wolesly... the reason may be that at Wolesly I already had my scare after almost being taken out by a car 20 seconds after the start.... scary sht.
Opinion:
The Paarl start was a bit silly. The starting location was not very well thought out. One need time and some pedal pace to get the engin started and it would have helped if there was about 150m decent road before the climb. At least everyone was in the same boat and now we know for next time.
Even though i did not enjoy the route as much as most of the other races i did this year, I have to give the Rotary club and PPA a thumbs up on this one (no- im not a rotary memeber). Good marshalling, good food, Rout map and profile before the race, parking for all (some in stellenbosch ) and they made bloody sure every one knew the route was slippery take care! No serious, thanks for the event.
