  2. Hi, I am PPA registered. Do I still go about getting a CSA racing license to compete in national evens at myrace or do I need a club or does PPA take care of it all? Thanks
  3. yes' date=' from the car to the start line. [/quote'] Come ride the race next year and decide for yourself Were all the participants as touchy as you? haha, was wondering the same thing. i was looking at the picks and did not know if i should take my road bike or mtb to the event.... so glad you asked
  4. This year Lourensford got me. Did not do Hill2Hill this year, but judging by the times of the riders it looked nasty.
  5. Azonic... that pic of yours is giving me a headache!!!
  6. ...and one thing to look forward too is the western cape rainy season to end soon! I hope. The mud is killing my bike mechs Just hang in there!
  7. Have you been to schwinn's web page recently ? It seems like they are focusing a bit more on recreational cycling and urban commuting. Maybe i visited the wrong page, but I would go for Mongoose
  8. Sure, just sharing. I do think there is truth in what Johan Bornman replied, i just dont know, to many variables for me to point at one thing.
  9. Im not left or right brain minded - i have no brain. This is why I had to do a test a couple of months back on the Larsen and Crossmark to look at the effect of changing the tyre around (rotation direction). You smart guys can explain the result, im happy with what ive learnt. Ive noticed that i kick-up a noticable amount more gravel and water when turning it in the opposite direction than shown. Hope this helps
  10. stumbled accross this and dont know the story is/was http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=356880
  11. that is a good frame and like you suggest it will take some time getting used to. judging from your s-works set up you have quite the race setup. i find marida and scott has an agressive setup. i would try a riser bar on that marida.

I think Riaan Cruywagen would kick @rse in his age group............whatever his age group is....................... RIAAN CRUYWAGEN DONT FALL IN AN AGE GROUP BECAUSE NO AGE GROUP CAN HOLD RIAAN CRUYWAGEN!!
  13. That white stem just looks wrong on an all mountain bike A nice white Ritchey WCS ' date='now all I need is the handlebar [/quote'] also have a look at the FSA k-force bar... good deal. about 44pounds in uk
  14. all this is a bit confusing... where do you guys find time for snacks and unwrapping bars, patatoes, marmite sandwiches , froot cakes.. what the hell i use gu when feeling good and know there is a big climb coming in about 8-10 mins. generally about 2 a race (if any) and take some fluid if mouth is too dry.
  15. dougaroony, you are on the money... it depends what kind of ride you want and rider you are... all i can say is use a sealant (that is if you dont want to carry 10 tubes)
  16. ...seeing everyone has an opinion i may as well air mine... I use the lightes combination with a sealant... and that is tube tyres (without tubes) and sealant. It makes sense in my mind and i havent been dissapointed to date... touch wood. I do ride hard and I do carry a spair tube though at least one.
  17. thank you
  18. please make some suggestions for a race like Karoo 2 Coast... going for speed! Have UST crossmark back and maxxis larsen front at the moment got a set of Racing Ralphs in the garage. I hate flats(dont we all) so reluctant to use the Racing Ralphs but if it is lighter and faster and you guys recommend im changing.... any other suggestions is welcome, maybe another setup/tyre to think of ?
  19. Johan, you are right in correcting me. Didnt read the initial post all that well with gear combination to keep cadence the same. thanks Mellow2008-09-13 12:15:44
  20. I had a look at this bike it looks great and according to what mandible has just said above it should be a good bike any opinions ont his thread and is the R 3800.00 worht the bike and the fact it has been on the site since August ???? isnt that a long time to be for sale especially at this time of year every one get all amped to cycle the spring and summer this is a good deal. check the chain and cassette for wear. new ones will be in the order of R700. spin the wheels to see if true and listen to hub for noise wiggle the pedals up and down and look for excessive movement all and all looks good
  21. ...also think about maintenace when you buy a bike. dual sus require a bit more tender lovin with pivot points and additional shock.
