  1. ride with a bud(friend) think of a slow start and how you'll work it up to a point where your shoulders get numb... the cool air clearing the sweat and your lungs burning... Remember to keep some fuel left to get home! start off clean and end attacking any puddle that just about look funny your way... leave your bike dirty and ride ride it like that the next day.. cleaning every second ride. ....THEN call you significant other, or do what L2climb suggest

  4. aslo called chip and spray by some... i dont know why in this particular instance they do this.... but its cheaper than milling(skim the aspalt) and replacing, also much quicker. the most expensive part of a road is the base layers. i would imagine that the surface show signs of cracks and need to be sealed. now roads has has a minimum required friction resistance to help us *break brake. just sealing and not adding the stone(roughness) the surfce will be "slippery when wet" similar to cycling on the painted lines when wet. believe it or not, but all roads in sa has a service period after which they do maintenance. when designing you do a cost analysis and allow for a +15year service period with intrim maintenance - this could be it Mellow2009-03-12 07:22:58

  7. if you were in that weather more than 5.5 hours you should get 10medals... finish or no finish.. eish
  8. use a silver spoon... if it get scratched use brasso or silvo to remove the scratch marks on the spoon
  9. The wind we encountered in CT yesterday probably happens around once every two months. Obviously many windy days, yesterday was just one of those extreme events. The start area (around the civic centre) is the windiest part of the city. Even on a good day the wind is breezy down at the civic centre. They should actully push the start out further to the traffic lights....
  10. They will need to take up a new strategy pretty soon... With so many new staged race events raising the bar and new ones popping up many an amateur rider will rather pay and train for the afordable events. The epic will always be expensive and a unique experience because it attract the best in the world and their sponsors will pay. I do believe that they are going to start losing the money stream coming from the amateur riders. Just the cost of your time on training and the event itself is well over 100k. Nothing beats a good challange, but the epic isnt the only one out there and other international races look very good. (Return)* ticket to europe costs R4500 - changeing your rider id costs R8500 - mmm Mellow2009-03-05 06:26:35

  12. you know Mellow' date=' i understand that men who post comments like this on the hub are just trying to get a reaction from the women on the hub. but really I think you are the kind of person who should learn to keep their mouth shut in situations like this. I bet you are standing on the sidelines supporting Chris Brown for Beating up Rihanna?? At no point did my friend say that she was innocent - she said she swore, and was not necessary doing so, but that does not mean that she deserve to have been slapped. She is not claiming to be the poor victim here, she is simply sharing her story. Unfortuantly this world is still run by small "minded" people like you, who don't give women the time of day. I really hope that you are never blessed with daughters or a loving wife who has to put up with your sexism. If you are, I feel desperatly sorry for her/them. Grow up. [/quote'] Nix TCR - i apologise to you and your friend for not treating the situation with the respect it deserves. sorry
  13. You out doing a ride in the CT area this morning on a mtb maybe ? hehe, no. i look for trouble on the hub not on my mtb in all honesty. there is no excuse to slap a woman - even if she deserves it. dont! ride alone ladies
  14. you sound so inocent... amazing. just love the womans version of the story. i dont trust woman on a bicycle and as drivers.... and dont do business with them if I can help it. nice thread

  19. who is not looking forward to the next clash of the titans ??? you can bet your socks off that both these guys will be training like mad.... oh boy its going to be epic!
  20. ...i really hope all the guys making these personal attacks on our great riders know what they are talking about else this is just a very good show of some peoples poor character. i agree with an earlier post that SA mountainbikers are in good shape to make a (further) serious impression on the international scene...
