Gasant - if u have something like a 21 as your big ring at the back then you'll struggle on the steep sections. for me a 12-25 is perfect for the routes/races in and around the peninsula (chappies, uo kaapse, rdhill, etc.)

been using the 550 wheels for over a year and no problems either - not so light 82kg.
