  1. My son is looking to off load his entry for the half....let me know asap is you are interested
  2. I could not agree more. There is no way that they can adjust times on an equitable basis. My son was in the chase group behind the leaders and after passing the same spot more than once and trying to double back, they ended up in front of the leaders. He realised this and backed off from competing, but clearly many others did not. Results are a joke and should be scrapped.
  3. Found at the Cradle MTB track on Saturday 25th April 2015. Contact Brendan on 0839884753.
  4. Have owned 5 in the family over a period and currently running with 3 Silverback hardtail MTB's (Carbon Storm 1, Magnesium Alloy Vida 2 and entry level alloy Oakland. Find them great bikes with good after sales back up and have not had any reason to consider changing brand. They are well specced, reasonably priced and good looking bikes.
  5. Would be great to see see some proper seeding of say the top 20 to help level the playing fields at the front of A batch. Hopefully we will see a split of routes so that the faster 50km and 30km riders do not have to battle through and scare the life out of the slower riders.
  6. Quite well supported, although they had some challenges with timing and prize giving, after some delays, was a bumbling, disorganized mess. Races generally recognize the first 3 in each category, in each distance, but they gave prizes to the first 2 in certain categories and then also recognized (and gave prizes to) the first 3 overall in each distance, which were invariably the same people ... missed an opportunity to recognize the efforts of a wider range of participants.
  7. Thanks, will explore these options.
  8. Hope fully someone can point me in the right direction. My son rides a Silverback Storm and a little while ago his back wheel started coming loose during rides. He would have to stop, undo the skewer, place wheel back in position, tighten skewer and get going again. It was happening a few times during a 30km race. Took it in to LBS who replaced skewer and the problem seemed to be sorted, now a few months later it is happening again. Any suggestions ?
  9. You still need to keep hydrated, with water for shorter rides and something extra to replace lost electrolytes as you ride for longer than say 1 hour. The honey mix replaces commercial energy gels though.
  10. Since seeing the previous thread on the topic, I have been making up a batch of honey/molasses/espresso and putting it in a small bottle (like Gozo) for my son. He loves it and seems to give him the energy required... no cramping either, but cannot put this down to the mix.
  11. Hi Guys, I have a half marathon entry for sale. Can call me on 0836472139 Wayne.
  12. Still looking for a half marathon entry....plse call me on 083 647 2139.
  13. Anyone have a spare 40km entry ???? Need it for my son who is a regular A batch. Plse mail me on wsmith@netactive.co.za
  14. Dont see Wellgo coming up here. I have been riding with them on both my bikes for a number of years without a hitch...and if you are concerned about weight they are at least 10% lighter than the SPD's. Clipping in and out is a breeze and they shed mud exceptionally well.
  15. It would be OK if they were "chickens", but they are more like "pigeons". Where do they find such small "chickens" ??
