  6. So far the weather is looking good, Everyone I have spoken to says you have 2 choices for the weather at hill2hill. 1) Pouring with rain 2) 40 degrees in the blistering heat. Im not quite sure which one is the lesser of the two evils!
  7. This Is going to be my first hill2hill and I started mountainbiking this time last year. So Im really excited to be entering the 100km, dam nervous too! should be a very interesting day out. I hope the weather holds out, I remember driving through to pmb on Saturday last year and seeing the 45km riders battling through the rain and swearing to myself that I would never put myself through that kind of torture! and 365 days later here I am actually excited to be doing just what I swore I would never do... Oh how the big wheel turns!

  11. My new addition to Monty the Mongoose! Cant wait for it to arrive
  12. I rode Rocky Bay about a month ago, and going back again the next long weekend, the trails are good fun, when I rode last only one loop was open, its about a 15km loop with deviations off it, we finished up at about 35km with 200 odd meters of climbing, so its not too hectic, the sandy sections add a bit of fun to it and loads of fun single track through the forests.
  13. Yip! I found a few very cool trails! one of them was just over 60k's! I was averaging about 50k's every second day during the holidays until this happened at the free ride area in giba! It kinda slowed the cycling down, but all fixed now and back up and running!
  14. Anyone know a trail from Assagay to Giba? Im keen to go look for it, I know the general direction I should go, and I have seen guys joining the Blue Route from the top of Gravity So Im gonna head in that general direction and see how I go, The less Tar the better. If anyone knows the route please help or if you keen to come hunting for it I will be going on Saturday morning if meneer sun stays out. lekkershotbye
  15. I see there is an event in summerveld on the 9th december 2012. anyone have a trail map for the 45km event? I've looked on the website but it doesnt say too much. Heres a link to the website if anyone else is interested. www.sharkstrailadventure.co.za
  16. Its at the top of controversy road? and comes out at the bottom of the road that goes to the right of heidies, (not sure of that road name) Hope he doesnt have a shotgun, those things arent fun.... Just got use more peddle and less brakes I suppose...
  17. Thanks for the advice guys, The land is in assagay (heidies farm stall area) its had a for sale sign on it for a while now, It is already a farely fast decline through trees and rivers with some big trees that have fallen over the path, thats where the jumps will be
  18. So Im very new to mountain biking in general, I'm really enjoying every second of it though. Im more particular towards free riding and DH, my fitness is lacking a bit but its coming on nicely, coming from riding mx bikes I feel I have got a little bit of a head start with the skills side of things, although Im no where close to some of the stuff I've seen you guys do, and having more balls than talent/brains I'm learning as Im falling. So my questions are... 1) I have a 08 mongoose super otero, is this bike sufficient standard? if not, what can I upgrade on it? I know absolutely nothing about this side of things, I could get sold a rear shock from a mx bike and only realise when I get home that it doesnt fit... 2) what are some good DH/FR trails to try? Im busy building one myself on an open property near by me, (not actually sure who owns the land but Ive been riding it for months and no one has stoped me yet so I figured time to put some decent technical stuff on it, jumps, rocks etc. but doing this alone is taking time and doing it with my knowledge of mtb makes it fairly scary... So any advise/ help or ideas would help me alot and if you wanna come ride my trail, once its done of course, let me know. lekkershotbye
  19. Im pretty new to mountain biking and Im now hunting for trails in the upper highway area, Ive been cycling around a few trails in summerveld but starting to get bored of them, I love gibas blue route especially the gravity dice and the free ride section off the green route, just a bit of a mission to get down there as often as I'd like to. Does anyone know of some good routes in the area? I dont even know where to start, being new to the sport and not really having anyone to cycle with, I dont want to end up pissing off other people by crossing into their land or going the wrong way on a trail etc etc. already been shot at twice by grumpy farmers on my motorbike, (I dont think I'll be able to get away quick enough on my MTB.... YET hahahaha) Any help would be great.
