  1. Karina....huuuuge kudos for battling on and on and on!! She won't make it in time but wow, she must know and then to keep on going! Amazing toughness. Same to everyone to be fair....it is just insane. Holding thumbs for the rest!!! On my way shortly to finish and Bains.....wanted to see in the Campbells but loks like i will be too late. Goooooooooo all you Mungaites!
  2. Not quite....on the tankwa straight for sure, but for the rest it will be a head wind/side wind. But I have a feeling the wind will be moderate in morning with the speckles of rain and cloud cover. Will definitely make for better riding conditions. Currently the wind is howling around the Tankwa....so better settle in for the night (a few hours at least till it dies down a tad)
  3. The previous record time just finished
  4. Amazing video of him coming in. He looked like a drunk...could hardly talk, disorientated. And no wonder. What an achievement. Unbelievable stuff. Congrats to him.
  5. He's back!! 1km to go
  6. Yeah....think Ambo 1 is leading him in
  7. think he's close but not there yet....last k or two
  8. So 1st is clear: MM by a country mile. Unbelievable stuff 2nd and 3rd - going down to the wire (altho Dion's tracker is on the blink). Warriors. 4th Sthembiso - killer kick at end 5th Jeannie - miss consistency
  9. Dion tracker back "on track" and he's in 2nd!
  10. Can't trust any of these trackers...keep 'em peeled. They might only "refresh" later again. Of course, with those injuries he could be in serious pain and can't continue
  11. Also cheering like mad for Karina Britz! Hope she can finish! She just checked into WP5 @ 458km. Not sure if she is DQéd yet?
  12. Remember too that up to 9th, Guy Jennings, all are ahead of the record time. Jeannie in 6th well ahead...so she will be fairly chuffed with that. But of course, the mech possibly cost her a podium....
  13. Reckon it's gonna be a dog-fight for 2nd between four riders. Don't wanna write off Jeannie tho. To see a lady on podium would be insane!
  14. Hope the Ceres crew are out in numbers to support these brave madmaxes and maxines! See they go past Eselfontein...some dedicated crew there!! Unfortunately won't make tonight...but will pull in around finish & Bains tomorrow arvie to support. Want to see it live and look at those riders and their steeds
  15. Martins is an absolute machine! WOW! Unreal. Big cojones Bains Kloof will not be fun but it's probably all in auto-mode now. Get up and over free-wheel. Hope they look after him and the other riders on the road the closer they get to more civilisation. Some dangerous drivers out there.....
  16. That's an extra 20km or so....wouldn't wanna be near him at the mo. Those expletives will be waaay colourful I''m sure. Damn these guys are mad. Catching myself daydreaming how cool it would be to ride along these roads in the middle of nowhere....then I wake up and realise the paincave I would be in and how mad I need to be. I cry at 160km events. But still.....maybe one day
  17. Just as I say that.....looks like he's on the wrong road! S**t
  18. Tracker hasn't reported for 18min....so might be an error. You never know. Hopefully he's on the right track....or has noticed it. Any extra meters are too much!! Good luck guys and gals
  19. That's ok. Rain is always welcome especially in this area. So guys and gals, remember to pack for some rain on Sunday. ps. this weather site is way better: https://www.windy.com/-33.363/19.330?-33.768,19.468,8,m:cJyagHo
  20. Oh and by the way, my R1 is faster than your Suzi
  21. ????????? Patch, maybe re-read what i wrote without putting your spin/interpretation on it. Then re-read what you wrote. I actually addressed it all exactly in your vein of thinking. But it's ok....it's been a long week. Friday syndrome has hit lol Enjoy the weekend
  22. Why is everyone getting their panties in a knot? Let us also allow everyone to do as they wish - ride a normal pedal powered bike or an e-bike. Everyone has the same rights. The OP asked whether they belong on a mountain - my question would be: why not? For me, there is no obvious reason why not! And the arguments against might have some validity, but i have some reservations here. A heavier bike is like a heavier rider on a normal bike - thus same impact on trails?! And I am not an ebike rider....and won't be for the next 10 years at least. I will ride with my muscles as long as they allow it. And I do a lot of events. If there is an event that caters for both, then I would consider it obvious that there would be separate categories - as it currently is for different distances. The trick would be starting times as there will again be disparate achievement/capability levels of competitors. Mixing both on a mountain trail i would agree might lead to some frustration - but this also needs to be tested. Lastly, a thing to remember is: those ebikes are heavier thus "harder" to descend with, again, depending on skill levels. So they might be quicker uphill (depending on traction/underground) but possibly slower downhill. Does this even it all out? Not quite, as one makes way more time uphill. But riding in separate groups/starting times would make this point moot. Anyway, my point is, each to their own. Everyone is allowed to make a choice and go where they like. One group doesn't have more rights than the other.
  23. Entered and donated - easy to be done in one swoop. In case anybody else encounters problem with payment going through (after OTP entry): clear browser cache or use another browser. Racetec might need to clear basket first though. See you all at event
  24. As in business so it is in the personal space....it all boils down to affordability. I would love to do the U too....but financially just not on. So am doing the Eselfontein event. And that is amazing too. What event hosts should remember, without wanting to dilute their offering, their market is diverse. Of course you can't cater to all....but considering various packages is not a difficult thing. As mentioned above by a hubber...why not offer "just" entry (plus cost for some amenities) and leave accommo and food etc to entrant? Anyway, it's a choice for all. But will start saving up for next year's U. And try find a partner, which is a whole discussion on its own....
  25. Gonna be epiiiiic!!!
