  3. Hi guys I have a 3 speed crank which i am now using with a single speed specific chainring. The chainring is posotioned where the middle chainring has allways been. Its a 32 tooth. Surely cross chaining is a problem when using the highest and lowest cogs at the back ? Or not ? Or even with a 1 by 10 or 1 by 11. Is cross chaining not a problem ? Thanks
  4. Hi guys. Before I make a purchase I would like to found out if a shimano 8 speed chainring will work on a 9 speed crankset ? 104 bcd
  5. Hi guys, I broke a spoke. And I am trying to figure out if these rims are tubeless ? Or is it a tape ? Thanks They wtb speed disc 26er wheels

  7. I think i figured out the problem. The new headset is not well made and the split ring does not fit into the upper race... Its to big somehow to fit snug in the upper race. So im using my old race and split ring and all is working perfect now.
  8. My old race and split ring.
  9. This is what the upper race and split ring look like.
  10. So just to clarify. Did they sell me rubbish ? Or is there something missing ? It has a split ring, but its a tiny flimsy piece of plastic. VERY thin and flimsy.
  11. My LBS did. The make is Avalanhe.
  12. This little thing came with the headset. I have not used it though as I never have used it before. Should I be using it ? What purpose does it serve ? Thanks
  13. It is a MTB I stand over the top tube, lift the front wheel off the ground like I am doung a wheelie and then I push the handlebar up and down with some force.
  14. This picture was taken when compression bolt was tight.
  15. Thanks for reply. Everything was changed from the cups to the crown race. So its all new. It is an Aluminium steerer tube. When i have tightened the compression bolt- there is a visible 3-4 mm of space between top cap and steerer tube. Hope that helps
  16. Hi guys, I would apreciate some help... I recently purchased a new Headset. It is a one and 1/8 semi Intergrated headset. The cups have been well fitted into the frame and all bearings are well greased. When I tighten the compression bolt (making sure the stem pinch bolts are loose) so that there is no play in the headset I allways seem to have to tighten it again after every ride. I got it about 3 days ago. Whenever I make sure it is just at its optimum tightness and there is no play, it allways turns out that after I finish my ride there is a slight amount of play. I have retightened the compression bolt 4 times now. Any ideas on what the problem could be ? Thanks Unless maybe it is normal with a new semi intergrated headset for this to happen ?
  17. Are those measurments deffinately for straight steerer ? Thanks
  18. Will go have another look at Mica tommorow. Thanks
  19. Hi guys, managed to get my old crown race off quite easy with a hammer and screwdriver. I have a straight steerer fork. I am wanting to put my new corwn race on on but cannot find any pvc piping which fits around the crown race. I have looked everywhere. The crown race for tapered fork is much larger so pvs piping will be easier to find for it. Any other ideas on how i can get my new crown race on ? Please dont suggest to take my fork to the lbs.I am trying to work on my bike in as many places as i can. Please remember its for a straight steerer. Thanks for the help
  20. Hi guys just a reccomendation for everyone at the sani2c. If you are wanting to service your bike or get something checked-you MUST go to the 'cycle life' tent. The guy has worked at the cape epic for team Absa and works for guys like Joel Stransky and John Smit at stage races. His worked on my bike at events too. Very well priced and you cannot get better service and experience. Ask for Tebogo-lead mechanic. Just thought it would be good to let the riders know. His seriously excellent and a nice guy. Here is his number if you need to call him at the event if you have any issues. Tebogo 071 589 9829‬
  21. Thank you
  22. Hi guys, just a quick question. I recentley serviced my headset to only realize now that the bottom seal moves freely. So i can take my fingers and eailsy turn it. It still is in contact with the bearing but i am able to move the seal freely. Is this ok ? It still seems well sealed but it rotates freely so it is not fully stuck onto the crown race of the fork. Just enquiring to see if you guys think its alright. Thanks
