  1. Does anyone know why the tourdeboland.co.za website redirects to the CSA website(which then has no TDB information)?
  2. Shipsterns is still one of the most knarly waves out there. It's on the list but damn, not sure when it'll happen. One day though.
  3. Very good race, really enjoyed it. http://www.trailtag.co.za/ for results...
  4. Doping/no doping, I enjoyed this tour. I never really felt like Sky would lose it but they clearly weren't invincible either. Along with my new main man, Nairo Quintana, and Impy not only getting yellow but doing it with such class, meant it was a good one. The doping issue will come up every tour, for ever and every winner will have to face the same questions(IMO that is) but I don't think it should distract us from the beauty of the race. I hope others enjoyed it as much as I did(or even more )! My only question is this...what do I watch after work!?
  5. If I get that job in the big apple of RSA I'll see you there
  6. Thank you for the feedback guys. I'm hoping common sense and some of the facts I could gather will keep people from doing something stupid. It is amazing how a logical, well grounded person can become incapable of thinking straight when the prospect of easy money pops up.
  7. I have no intention of joining as everything about it is a scam to me. It would be good to hear from someone that has used it/burnt their fingers with it. The people that think it sounds just wonderful just don't seem to want to hear my reasoning behind it.
  8. Hi Guys, So a few of my friends/family members have been approached with the Lyoness plan. Then basic idea being is you buy a loyalty card for R35 and you get 1% cash back on all purchases made at places like Dischem/woolies ect. If you recommend others, you get 0.5% of any purchases they make. Small percentage but considering what you spend on groceries it can add up. Now, is this legit? The fact that you only pay the R35 makes it a fairly low risk thing to try but even then it stinks of ponzi scheme to me and there are a few reason why: - I have never heard of it, Dischem and Woolies never promote it ect...do they even know that their name is being linked to this(something I am in the process of finding out)!? - The income figures don't add up(supposedly 50k a month if you have 50 people and if they bring in another 250). - You can pay R20k to get a better % cash back(Classic ponzi scheme) - The guys doing the pitch use things like we also give to Charity, we are religious ect(Things they know would appeal to their older audience to the point where they no longer question their motives). So I think it is clear that I don't buy it but there is a lot of conflicting info on the web so I would like to hear it from people that have tried it? I also realize if you're part of the ponzi scheme my poll might be useless but all hubbers are good people right?
  9. Very good article and some great insight into just how tough this sport is. Very proud of where SA cycling is going, keep it up guys(and girls!)!
  10. Nope but I am going to now, thanks Oh and as for the SA issue...momentarily forgetting that you actually live in RSA and entering an address of a Dunk'n Doughnut shop in NY does the trick(unless it is a paid app which will require that your billing and actual address match)... Not that I have done this of course, just going on what I have heard
  11. Sorry guys I don't think I'll get off work in time to make the 18:15. I'll probably catch you on the trails if you're going to be around G-spot
  12. OK 100%. If we do the Jonkers ride I will have to meet you at Ridein though. If not, I'll see you at la Romantica at 18:15. I'll be the bulky fellow on a dark grey/blue Gaint XTC and Panda kit
  13. So are we doing the Jonkers ride at 6:15 then? I'm keen
  14. If you can make it 6:15 I can join. I work in Technopark till 18:00. But if it doesn't suit the others I'll just try catch up. But I'll be keen for sure!
  15. How much are day passes? I've lived here for 3 years and haven't been there which is unacceptable, Something I shall correct this weekend!
  16. Chaining it doesn't help. These guys know their stuff and even if you did a very good job they sometimes proceed to beat your carbon frame with a brick out of spite. In my 1st year at Varsity my MTB was stolen the Saturday and my road bike the Tuesday, both chained with quality chains and locked in a solid lock up garage. Try to explain to insurance why 2 bikes go missing so soon after each other...the result was an instant premium hike. In my case I believe it was an inside job as the previous December they cleared out the bike shed at Res, stealing around 35 bikes!! When the care-taker at res saw that I no longer kept my bike in the bike garage his response was "You mos have insurance?". I believe the number of stolen bikes reported in Jan of 2010 was over 150 if I remember correctly. That's a lot of bikes being stolen for such a small town.
  17. Those people doing "real work" wouldn't have a company to work for if it wasn't for those "pushing paper around". I'm not saying it is right that they get paid so much less but it doesn't make what the pen pushers do less important or any easier for that matter.
  18. I did my 1st XCO race this past weekend and man was it fun. In fact, it is what I will be focusing on from now on. Interval training should be a huge priority in my opinion. You'll sprinting up and down with little/no resting and an insanely hard start means a solid warm up on the day is needed. The top guys are about 5 times as fast as they look on TV so be prepared for that mentally They ride at threshold all the way. It's a great form of racing, just be prepared for some seriously intense riding at threshold. Good luck and remember to enjoy it!!
  19. Om nom nom!! I can't wait! It's been a long time since I've been THIS excited to race my bike
  20. You no longer need me to pay for my goods and I can pick them up for free tomorrow? Oh no wait then it would be me doing that
  21. OK so there is no/little point to it then. Have a great weekend!
  22. Hi guys, I did a quick search but didn't find anything on this topic(if there is one please post the link). Is it worth upgrading your BB to the best that you can afford? It would seem to me that it can make a big difference but are there people here that went from the basic BB to the more expensive, ceramic ones? Is it worth it/did you feel a big difference? I don't mind paying R1600 for something like this but then I want to know it'll make a decent difference: http://www.cwcycles....-ceramic-mtb-bb
  23. I started a thread and it had a decent amount of names...and now it's all gone Jeroen Swart was a big one that many recommend. I'm starting with them end of June. Check out www.sciencetosport.com
  24. If you look at this and don't realize he has injected a bucket of test then you need to get out more. But even then, that takes some insane work to build legs like that!!
