  1. I'll be there for my 3rd one. 2011 was my 1st one and man it was hot and tough, it took me 6hrs 30mins Dropped 9kg's and trained a little more for 2012 and did it in 4hrs50mins. Now I'm another 9kg's lighter(but should drop another 6kg's before the race), getting a new bike that isn't two sizes too small for me and I've been training harder than ever since Jan. So I'm going for sub 4hr It's a fun event. No technical sections and a 14km downhill makes for a very fast 95km's. I'm bringing a whole bunch of mates that have never ridden it before. It's a must if you're on this side of the country
  2. Still going to go ride it!
  3. Saw it on twitter. It will now be on the 15th of June. https://twitter.com/WPMTB
  4. What are the min/max columns for?
  5. Hahaha...." it naturally became quite a late night for the two of them"... I wonder what kept them up all night?
  6. I'm in for my 1st XC race too but will be in for a world of hurt in the elite class I genuinely don't think I've been this excited for a race before! Good luck everyone!! BTW I'll be in black "Panda Racing" kit, chain-drinking coffee
  7. I just bought the 1200 lumen light from extreme lights and took it for my 1st night ride tonight. I must say it's very good and I'm even happier with the fact that I didn't pay an insane amount for it. My opinion: 1200 lumen is great. I didn't feel I need more light once I was in the forest or on a dark and wet ride down G-spot in Stellies. The best was seeing cars stop and wait for me to pass when I was sure I was going to be cut off. BUT when it's not very dark the light does lack some power. I found it to be perfect once I got out on the trails with no other light source but when I rode through town the street lamps made it difficult to spot small objects in the road and my light seemed to "blend" with the light from the street lamps. So it depends on what your requirements are. If you can afford it, I would say the 2000 lumen(I mean, more is better right? ). Although I don't think you'll be unhappy with the 1200 lumen. I'm happy with my purchase and can recommend Extreme-lights. They delivered quickly and kept me up to date. The light is perfect for my needs and I can now go bomb Jonkershoek single-track at 00:00
  8. The pistol/sex pistol
  9. Can I come buy mine at the shop or do I have to go via the online shop? I'm planning on coming through on Saturday(I get paid tomorrow )...
  10. I'm in Stellenbosch so I'm always keen. +1 if I'm welcome
  11. Sorry about that poor spelling guys Thanks for all the feedback, I basically agree with every post and reckon I'll be mixing all your advice to find something that suits me! I've been thinking about this for awhile. I know I would stop running when I wanted to bulk so maybe I should start running again. Something to do with pushing your body into a catabolic state. Hopefully I'll be posting with some decent results in a few months!
  12. Hi guys, I used to play rugby and gymed the typical "mirror muscles" but I have since started cycling and I really enjoy it. I am. however, a competitive freak and I now want to be lighter. I am working on my body fat(which is low teens) so I know I can cut down another 5 to 8kgs without too much of a hassle. I'm 1.89m and now weigh 99kg(I was 112kg about a year ago) and just for reference my arms are now 38cm(down from about 44cm). So I am losing fat and muscle but it is becoming increasingly more difficult to do so. Any pointers on losing muscle mass? I no longer gym my upper body and I'm doing cardio only, will this be enough? How difficult is it to lose muscle around your chest/back ect?
  13. I'm not sure if this one has been posted. Redbull showing yet more class and making their own tribute to Burry. http://www.redbull.com/en/bike/stories/1331580322179/a-tribute-to-burry-stander
  14. I'll admit it, I cried like a baby. Once I was alone I couldn't help myself and the waterworks flowed. I've been feeling so numb and today when I got on the bike for the 1st time since his passing it all just became real, it sank in and I realized just how big this gap in my heart is. The man had a bigger impact than I realized and this has made me question everything in my life, considering how easily one can loose it. Hearing the news about a cyclist being hit in my home town today was just too much too. So if you see a boertjie tomorrow in Stellenbosch, chunking like a little girl, don't judge, and rather bring me a tissue ok
  15. Am I the only one thinking we'll see some of those "Top international names" pull out due to "unforeseen circumstances" after this news?
