  1. Try GSG bibs. Affordable, long lasting and comfy.
  2. What a nice race. Well marked route with some beautiful single track. The water tables had the best date squares I have ever tasted. The only gripe was the honesty seeding. Quite a few people rated themselves quite a bit faster than they actually were. Luckily there was a long stretch of tar to alleviate the problem. Will be back again next year.
  3. I don't need HTFU pills because I received **** service. I will just not go back. They are not doing me a favor by servicing my bike without a booking. I am doing them a favor by choosing to service my bike with them. I don't have to be unique to get good service. But... making clients feel unique is probably one of the most important attributes a company could have in the sales and service industry. Being greeted by name in your local bike shop or restaurant goes miles in getting return business. Besides the fact that I am in my thirties, working in a project environent in the mining industry has not allowed me to act like a millennial. All I am asking is for good service.
  4. Yes I did and I understand that, but it is not an excuse for **** service.
  5. Had to take make road bike to a different shop this morning because my LBS is closing down. Walked in with my road bike, which I never ride except for the 'big' races (on my MTB about four times a week). First question I got asked is "did you book it in". Really crappy service. Looked around the shop at new bikes, as my dad is interested, and no one offered to help. I left my bike there, because I am pressed for time, but will probably not go back.
  6. Do you race for prize money?? Nothing says I am a pro like winning the Carnival City Macsteel National Classic. We once beat Laerskool Putsonderwater in a rugby match. No prize money so I stopped playing rugby after that. Wasn't pro enough for me.
  7. 57.51% of people voting a certain way doesn't make it right....
  8. Their speed and agility is second to none. Learning how to snatch properly takes years of practice. Olympic weightlifters are also more flexible than cyclists. I think we should have a weightlifting day for cyclists to put things in perspective.
  9. Not including, world strongest man competitors, powerlifters and olympic weightlifters? Olympic weightlifters are the strongest pound for pound human beings on this earth. There is no doubt.
  10. I guess that depends on what your definition of fitness is. Does being able to run 100km in one go and not able to lift your own bodyweight off the floor make you fitter than someone who can run 30km and lift their own bodyweight off the floor 50 times in a minute? Matt Fraser did a 172kg clean and then swam 1km in 20mins. So he would out-swim the weightlifter and lift more weight than the swimmer. Of course not everyone will agree. Just telling you their thinking behind it. Basically, slightly above average at everything below: http://crossfittherack.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Whats-Fitness.png Having said that, its probably impossible to find the fittest person on earth, but these guys and girls are right up there with the fittest people on earth. Edit: The fact that weightlifters and gymnasts do so well in CrossFit (Toomey and Fraser both competitive weightlifters) does tell you where the bias is.
  11. If you pay for a race and they advertise water points there should be water at said water points. Plain and simple.
  12. I think you are not losing weight because you are constantly starving yourself. Intermittent fasting is good, but once you break the fast you should actually eat. Meals should consist of low carb veggies, protein and fat. Depending on your activity level, body type and ultimate goal, you should be consuming a set amount of calories a day. The only way to determine how much you are consuming, is to use a tracker. I like the Fatsecret app. You simply input what you eat and it tracks your macros for you. Try and keep carbs below 50 grams per day to start with and consume the rest of your calories from fat and protein. 70% Fat, 25% Protein and 5% Carbs is a good start. Play around with the ratios until you find the place where you are not hungry, but are still losing weight. Get your body fat tested monthly. You should not be losing muscle, but rather fat. Adjustments need to made based on those numbers as well. Also, Knorr Stock cubes contain a whole lot of ingredients that are generally not accepted on an LCHF diet. Try and make up a meal from things that contain one ingredient. Stock cubes contain potato starch, sugar and maltodextrin just to name a few. Don't weigh yourself every day and just keep going. If you are constantly hungry, you are doing it wrong.
  13. Jip, that was me involved at the back. Ours was not caused by the orange guy though.
  14. Which Group did you start in? I might have been in the accident behind you. A guy cut in front of me when someone else in the group got a fright when a speeding car passed us. When I got back on my bike I saw guys with the same kit as him next to the road. Hope you heal up soon.
  15. As you will notice I am pretty new to the cycling community. I am looking for a dual suspension mountain bike for my wife. Problem is, she needs an extra small frame. So far I haven't been able to find a bike for her. I've been to quite a few shops including Linden Cycles and Cajee's. Most of the bike shops have told me that I will not find an extra small dual suspension bike. One has recommended the Trek Lush S. Others have recommended that I just buy a hard tail with tubeless tyres and avoid buying any women's specific bikes. Please help. What should I buy and what should I avoid buying?
