  1. Only two worth looking at:

    1) Hand built by Dave Marshall

    2) The Mavic Aksium - sealed bearing hubs, good tension and common parts.

The Shimano bearings are cup and cone and patented spoke/nipples??? also the Fulcrum 2:1 spoke pattern and odd size nipples will come back and bite you.

Thanks for the advice I have the same problem with my Syncros wheels cannot get spokes have to wait more than 2 months for spokes.

  2. How do you guys record your rides on the Wattbike so you get extra vitality points?

I currently use the Wattbike app which links to Strav but I don't get any vitality points for the activity apart from 100 for entering the gym. I see a few guys who have there computer with them but surely it wont record distance or anything only time.

if you have a garmin 520 it will connect to the Wattbike no need to use the app

  4. Mine was 6.2  :( and I train 7 days a week (sometimes twice a day) and eat healthily with almost no alcohol. Been to the doc to get blood tests done to see how much of that is the good cholesterol and whether need any medication... waiting for the results sometime this week.

So also missed out on the full quota of points as everything else is better than normal!!

  5. Another week on 1000 for me.

It's going to be interesting in the week I'm away (from a Friday to the Wednesday). The weekends are usually the opportunity to smash a 600-1500 point ride.

It will most likely be a 1200 week that week, judging by the interval my points increase.

Will cross that bridge when I get there, but I foresee a few Froome-like shuffles for 30-mins.

im now on 1200 for the 1st time

  6. with Discovery's lack of interest in allowing a recovery week, I do just that. Plan a 1500 point ride for the Saturday and then do active recovery and rest through the next 10 days before hitting the intervals again on Tue, Wed and Fri to get at least 300+300+300.

Makes it a bit harder now that the target is 1000+, but still achievable - as 600+600 or 300+600+300.

i do the same my Saturday club ride is normally 300, then Sunday its 600+ on Monday double spin class 600 points target for the week achieved.Thursday off, Wednesday wattbike 30km+ . The only ride on Saturday again. So it's not impossible to hit your target

  7. All the wattbikes at the gyms I've been to have 60min limit stickers on them. However no one has interrupted my session, they mostly go to 90mins but I've noticed that no one sticks around long enough to notice I've been on for more than 60mins. I don't make a moat... my clothes and hair will be soaked through but sadly no moat... People should be proud of their puddles.

the WattBikes are prime real estate if you get one use it

  8. At a week in Im surprised you were able to do anything!!

Most people are either battling from "carb flu" or just have 0 energy, I know I battled for about 2 weeks.

What I found when I was fully in ketosis after a couple of weeks was that my short distance speed was down but endurance was up.

If I compare my running then the 5k time was slower but my 10-15k time was definitely faster.

I think the answer is to train low carb and low carb for endurance events. Race on sugar
