  1. Yeah so much scope for something fun! Being under powerlines also means it can never be developed no matter what happens The added adrenaline comes in when the hikers dawdle up there...
  2. It closes at 21:00 so all the night that happens before that is for riding
  3. Oh yes!!! Late rides are back on the menu https://www.facebook.com/tarokotrails/posts/185740206392540
  4. Yeah with my phone, went for a jog to go see them
  5. Yeah they are very shy, always chill north of the river section.
  6. The river is closed for the mean time because of the bird. Just less stress for everyone, very admirable of Taroko to put nature first! The babies (juveniles now) are already flying around so he will stop being so protective of the area soon.
  7. Thanks to Eagle Eye Safaris; "The culprit is the amazing Black Sparrowhawk"
  8. Tried to find the bird yesterday, no luck! Will try do a jog through there this week and confirm him Saw an ambulance there yesterday too
  9. Yeah I have had that bird dive bomb me a few times! It's like a lizard buzzard or similar? It's terrifying! Gave me a nice cackle the last time too... I'm going to go for a run there this week and bring a monocular with to try see him! We say a fat snake there today as well. Trails are looking great Went past the ruins but sadly they aren't included anymore.
  10. SUBSCRIBED That was awesome!
  11. I have seen a different poster at Oakes Coffee Roastry. The above may have been by Flamingo or online, I don't recall where I got it. Yeah current or not, it's good to know
  12. The ruins are also one of my favourite parts! Pity they aren't cut as well there is so much potential and it feels like Jurassic bike park!
  13. Oh yes the birdlife is incredible! We actually bought a monocular recently so we could have some zoom with us for cycles and runs!
  14. The trails weren't in a good way, we all know this, you can go back a few pages and have a look for yourself. Then the stewardship change happened, trails were tended to for a bit, then lockdown happened... How long has non essential business been open? How do some people think that it will be manicured already? The vegetation didn't take a break during lockdown! It probably thrived as we weren't there to overshoot corners and stunt some growth. Regarding the cards, I have a 1 and a half rider cards still. I won't even give it the satisfaction of being on my fridge like my adventure golf cards I hardly use. I will chuck it away like my till slips from the bike shop. Who are you supporting by demanding your rides? If something so small can chase someone away it's perhaps for the best, the less muppets the better! Most of us in this thread want the same thing. A great place to ride.
  15. Even more reason I need a games/bike room! Amazing!
  16. The 'old' direction isn't how it was originally. The way it is now is how it was like 7 years ago. I think it is much better. Especially for weekend morning rides. The open exposed stuff is done first while the sun is low.
  17. The park is open! They are still catching up with the cutting but it's heading in the right direction. The plants are growing very well in this weather and it was in a terrible state before so it will take some time to get perfect. We can all help by running it in again! (There is signage again as well)
  18. I doubt it as it isn't a nature reserve, but i'm not 100% sure if they will be closing. The animals were even relocated a few weeks back.
  19. That one pole gave me nightmares!
  20. Would be nice to see a model with Shimano Alfine!
  21. Everyone who build jumps had to start somewhere I had a quick google and there are so many resources it's overwhelming. I don't think gaps would be a good idea anyway... Also a line that cuts out all the fun as well. Have a look through here so we cut the trails in-between the jumps nicely: https://www.imba.com/explore-imba/resource-hub
  22. Let's just do it? The best part about that section is that it is under powerlines so it will never ever ever be developed ever! Also so close to hospital (touch wood) I have a few people keen on my side and I can organise a meeting regarding permission. I think going for forgiveness is the easier option though...
