  1. I dont know about this. Personally, for me, I'd rather have a hub that engages exactly when I need it to.
  2. When riding singletrack it is nice though if your hub engages "quicker" (Less degrees movement before it engages) +1
  3. I'll email Hope and let them know to go back to the drawing board cos johan said so...
  4. The ascender should move for the descender.
  5. I used to ride @ Emmerentia often when I lived in Jo'burg. Firstly, except for the section at the bottom of the park where the single track weaves through the pine trees, the riding is crap. After a while, even the short singletrack is boring. It used to disgust me the amount of dog sh*t one would need to constantly dodge all the time. Pet owners seemed to actually take their pets there to have a crap. I can't tell you how many times I had to scrape it from my tyres. Truly, it was disgusting. Also, I was often bitten on the heels by mutts. Perhaps if dog owners had respect for the other people who would like to use the park and clean up after themselves and leash their pets as ordered by the signboards, this might not be happening. IMO, if you live in that area of Jozi, get a nice big can of pepper spray, and hit the hills above Melville. The koppies have some great riding, especially at the top section above Westpark cemetery. Beware though, the area is FULL of vagrants. There are some really good single tracks up there though. I guess it's spruit riding and MTN park now after work for those who live there. bustthesickness2008-11-13 14:38:00
  6. I LOVE the Hope Pro II hubs. Sooooooo smooth and really strong. They are awesome. Only thing you might not like about the rear Hope Pro II hub is the really loud noise it makes when it freewheels. It's almost obnoxious! That said, it takes really fast and is solid. I've had the Shimanos before, and will never go back. My bike 100% NON shimano and I'm proud of that Oh and don't listen to the boys who wanna know WHY you need new hubs. Of course you need new hubs, the ones you have are Shimano!
  7. yeah, I also dont like it.
  8. wowwowow! Rad A much needed, well located bike park in Jozi! one more excuse not to ride the spruit anymore
  9. Sorry to have to say this Free, but what were you thinking sending the goods without being paid first? In this day and age, with scams going on all over the place...? If the buyer had paid a deposit even, and then th goods didnt fit, he/she'd have quickly sent them back for a refund. No use now to cry over spilt milk.
  10. This is excellent stuff. Good for you man!
  11. often a lot of the questions asked are relevant to other buyers tho. sometime you gotta take the good with the bad.
  12. Robert Miles - Children I get flashbacks when I hear this tune!
  13. hahaha, well, you should see how bad the circles are here in the Cape. It really is insane. Not once have I seen them working like they should. I think [in general] drivers in GP are much more assertive. On a daily basis I have to pass some idiot sitting doing 70k's in the fast lane of the highway. JHB drivers at least undersatnd the basic laws, then they choose to disregard them!
  14. I've only really noticed that people driving in Cape town have problems with using circles. Jhb/Pta (where I'm originally from) is fine, the circles flow well and people unserstand the concept of first come/right of way etc. I think in Cape town it's understandable though as most people are busy looking at the mowntain or the whales in the ocean. I found that when I drove my car through the tunnel to get into the cape, my indicators suddenly stopped working, and nobody sells replacements here because flickers are actually illegal in CT.
  15. Hi there, I'd love to help build this. Please let me know when you need help. Where is this track based. I'm new to CT and was looking for some singletrack to ride as I'm living in Seapoint at the moment. Where is the trailhead?
  16. Take a photo of them doing it and post it here, with their names. That way even if someone googles for them, they'll be shamed.
  17. he said road bike in his post
  18. yawn! the usual little RACIST tiff here. It's boring, lame and pathetic. Let's just reword the whole thing.....If you were to see a bergie/bum/homeless dude/vagrant OF ANY COLOUR riding around on a 20k bike, then what would be the correct thing to do? I like the idea of offering R500 for it. It's really bullsh*t to pull out the 'human rights' card though. I know of one guy who pushed off his bike on a trail up north. Lucky for him, 2 cyclists were also heading that way and when they saw this vagrant riding down the path they chased him down and got the bike back. This doesnt mean they were racists. It's pretty plain to see if someone belongs on the bike they are on.
  19. hahaha, they must be REALLY comfy! My worst was seeing the SA Olympic team all kitted out with their AWESOME green CROCS.
  20. haha, clearly!
  21. I frown upon anyone who wears CROCS. You might not have stolen the bike you are on if you wear them, but you mosdef have very poor taste
