  1. It is not just Dawn Wing it is DSV also. I am also agitated , but remember they had Millions of parcels that could not ship a few days before lockdown and orders during lockdown , and now with full opening of e commerce it is a double whammy, oh yes and reduced staff etc.. So they are behind and will most likely not catch up anytime soon. Try the smaller courier i bought something on onedayonly and fast and furious was quick on it

Fair enough but they could've at least doubled down on their customer service team who have been able to work remotely all this time if they are that busy. The inaccurate tracking information and not being able to get through to their call centre despite repeated calls everyday is what really grates me. My Ciovita order was shipped during level 5 when they were supposedly less busy as it was an essential item so I would've expected it to have been delivered a month later.

On the opposite spectrum, Takealot seem to be getting it right as I placed an order with them late on Sat afternoon and it was delivered on Mon morning which was way ahead of the delivery estimate. I realize it's not a fair comparison as Takealot are vertically integrated, but from a customer's perspective, it does mean that I will rather look for items on Takealot first as I know they will be delivered within the stated timeframe even if the item costs a bit more.

  2. I don't have any beef with CWC as such since they shipped my Kickr on the 19th as promised BUT it's been stuck with Dawn Wing ever since and I'm unable to get through to their call centre and they never respond to email queries. I have the same problem with a Ciovita mask order that was sent through Dawn Wing over a month ago and I still haven't received it yet.

This experience will definitely put me off ordering anything in future from an online retailer who I know uses Dawn Wing which includes CWC and Ciovita. They are absolutely useless and it seems like the retailer's attitude is that you're on your own once the order ships.

  3. Sorry to add fuel to the flames but it definitely looks like your dad has been scammed.

10 mins of internet sleuthing found that the Full Cicle Gym Equipment website was only registered on 8 April 2020 and in the terms and conditions on their site they list their registered company number as 'ABN 31 715 334 460' which is in fact an Australian business number registered to a trust that trades as Gray's Health & Fitness Centre

The Ts&Cs on both websites are identical except for the parts where Full Cicle Gym Equipment replaced Gray’s Health & Fitness Pty Ltd with their own name:

    http://www.fcgymequipments.co.za/terms-and-conditions-of-sale.html
    https://graysfitness.com.au/terms-and-conditions-of-sale/

Not to mention the other evidence others have already stated above (typo in company name, not answering phone calls, too good to be true selling price, essential service certificate etc) it seems pretty obvious that they've ripped off the content from this Australian website and are using it to scam people. You should definitely lay a charge at the police station ASAP for what it's worth and warn your friends and family.

Sadly, the number of scammers trying to take advantage of the pandemic situation will likely increase in the days ahead. The same physical address and contact details are also being used on this safety surgical mask website which is another area which scammers are targeting (PPE). Stay safe people!

  4. I finished the Leadville Trail 100 MTB race in 2018 in a time of 8h:39m (163rd overall). I started in the White Corral which I qualified for after finishing the Silver Rush 50 MTB earlier that year. The race organizers are pretty strict with regards to seeding and won’t consider written motivations or proof of your SA results, so if you are serious about finishing in sub-9, you will need to enter one of the seeding events in the Leadville Race Series. As others have said, what makes the race so tough are the long climbs, the altitude which drains your energy and restricts your breathing, and the unpredictable weather conditions (rain, sleet, snow, heatwave etc are all possible in one day). It was a big one to tick off my bucket list and I highly recommend it to everyone. Just make sure that you put in some training at high altitude and arrive a week or two early to acclimatize if possible.

  5. Talk to me about headsets.

I have destroyed the on-one soothie light bearings with my rigid fork and the unrelenting rocky terrain hete in Gauteng, do I replace the whole headset? or can I track down bearings and replace only those.

Would Bearing man stock said bearings?

I had the same problem. Ended up replacing the headset with a more durable one.

  6. Can anyone recommend tyres that go well with these? I like the idea of the wide rims "upsizing" the tyre size to some effect without the obvious weight gains.

I have also heard of some folks having issues fitting, removing UST tyres with the rims - any truth to that?

I've been running Conti X-King Protection (2.2) on the front and Race King Protection (2.2) on the back on my Wide Lightnings and I've been very happy with the combination of weight, grip and reliability. They've handled all types of terrain from S2c to VG with aplomb. Not sure what they'll be like in very muddy conditions so might swop out the front and/or back for Mountain Kings if traction becomes a problem in summer.

  7. O yes.. Just a reminder for all buying a set.. please set the bearing locks, so that the bearings do not get pinched tight when fastening QR or through axles. Too loose and the wheel will woble, to tight and you will have extra resistance. Still think it is the best value for money rimms out there... enjoy!

Could you explain how to do this?

  8. Great review. I recently bought a set of the Wide Lightnings and I think you pretty much nailed it. The extra traction and comfort that comes with 29mm wide rims is game changing, even more so when they weigh as much as a decent carbon wheelset for a fraction of the price.

The only downsides to the Wide Lightnings are the AC hubs, which as mentioned in the review, take some getting used to in technical terrain, especially if you're used to hubs that have more points of engagement. They are great on flats and downhills though due to the fact that they fully disengage, unlike DT Swiss hubs for example. I also noticed a small ding in the rim after their maiden voyage at Breedstnek which could simply have been due to bad luck but I'm worried that these light aluminium rims are a little soft. Time will tell I guess.
