  1. I'm still struggling to forgive Belkin for attacking on Valverde's puncture on Friday. To me it's the equivalent of attacking in the feed zone, or attacking when a rider drops a chain(ring a bell?). Belkin weren't on the front, Velverde punctures, and suddenly they wanna help Omega. Did Sky, Saxo or BMC attck? No? Omega had every right to keep driving like maniacs on the front to drop Griepel and Kittel. If Valverde couldn't make it back in that case - Then it's tough luck mate!
  2. My friends and I have a lodge booked in Knysna for the Big 5 from 6-15 July over the ever popular Oyster Festival. The lodge sleeps 8 and we are only 5, so we can accommodate 3 more people. The cost per night will be R200pp, which is really cheap... as it is an awesome place overlooking the lagoon. We will only accept 3 people who are staying for the whole week and not just a few days. The total for the 9 days is R1800pp. Don't delay as this will get snapped up fast, and there is basically no accommodation free at this stage at an affordable rate. Thanks Sean
  3. We can accommodate 2 more people. Sorry for the typo

  5. Find a hill steeper and longer...that will prepare you
  6. Hey Davey boy...I've been reading your words of wisdom on this thread Training has been good. This day must just come now. Seems like I'm underestimating the return of the ride. Thanks for the advice regarding splits. How you feeling Dave? We must meet up there and chat. I just went to a talk that Paul Kaye hosted in Cape Town, and was thrilled to hear that you get given bottles ON THE GO at the 45km station ...awesome, now I don't need to carry all that water up hill like a cheap slave.
  7. This is my first 70.3. Question to the panel: If I want to do a 2:50 bike, what half way split should I look to hit by the 45km mark? Obviously wind can have a big influence, but would a 1:45 at the turn around and 1:05 back be a well paced split?
  8. Thanks for you advice. I do follow a very healthy and well balanced diet, and am quite meticulous about my recovery, but this time I just got it wrong. I went to the doc and shot gave me a vitamin B shot in the ass! Felt the symptoms at the beginning of last week, took an easy week off, but this weekend's ride didn't feel right yet...very low HR levels. Just gonna do some short low intensity training this week and next, and hope time will heal all.
  9. Shot MDW! Sounds positive. I'm gonna go to the doc to get a assessment, but I'm planning to do some low intensity exercise for the last 2 weeks now, and just hope I have my engine back on the 22nd.
  10. I seem to have pushed my body into a state of chronic fatigue - overtraining. From too many maximum intensity sessions, insufficient rest. It's my own fault, I'm a coach, I should've known better, but my drive to do well got the better of me. Anyway, so has anybody experienced overtraining before? Suddenly my goal of 5:30 has evaporated into just feeling good enough to finish the race
  11. If that bike was a women, it would have red hair, freckles and an out of focus eye...No disrespect to any women who do.
  12. Ok pls just ignore this oke! He's clearly looking for attention. He wants people to direct posts at him.
  13. It takes me 20s to get my wetsuit off...and as DawieO says the gain in time that a wetsuit vs no-wetsuit offers bares no comparison to 20s even over a olympic distance. I reckon if the wind is more than 30km/h on the day they should disallow deep section wheels...HAHA...now I'm starting something. Rules are rules...same for everyone
  14. Swimming is my weakness, and I always joke with my friends that I'd drown without a wetsuit, but I'm not being serious, I train in a pool without a wetsuit...in salt water one is more bouyant. If you cant swim without a wetsuit...then in my view you cant swim by yourself...why not wear a polly-otter or armbands...and put fairy wheels on your tri-bike. I might sound harsh but maybe get a swim coach before you think about entering a triathlon BTW: I do agree that they should make the wetsuit legal/illeagal decision the day before and send out an sms or email, not knowing is unnecessary.
