  1. That is correct - my estimation was based on the longer 60km route.
  2. Yes, you can subtract roughly an hour from your 947 time. At least it applies to my times.
  3. No MTB trails, only hiking trails. There is another entrance, more to the West of the reserve, off the R557. Much better to use Northern entrance as that gives quick access to the parking area and bathrooms.
  4. I saw this GT cx frameset in an ad here on the hub about a year ago and decided that it was ideal for the SS project I'd been wanting to do for a while. Local bike shop built the rear wheel around an eccentric hub (White Industries) for me and the rest of the parts I had lying around or found online. I love this bike - have been riding it for the last eight months while the geared bike is hooked up to the indoor trainer :-). Hope you guys like it.
  5. Also great value at $8250 in the US (see Giant's website); similarly specced bikes go for over 10K there. Should come in below 120K here. Still lotto money for me though.
  6. Believe that at your peril. No duties on electronics? WTF. You'll end up saving maybe R500 but you'll forfeit Garmin's excellent after sales service. Why take the risk?
  7. It would be great if daily updates about their progress could be posted as soon as they cross the border in to S.A. Like most people I can't be in Slaapstad to welcome them but I'm sure cycling enthusiasts who find themselves near or on their route to CT would love to cheer them on.
  8. Pricing from First Look Friday: PricingJET 9 Carbon XT 1x R59,109.30 JET 9 Carbon XT 2x R61,858.57 Frame only R27,221.03
  9. Why would something that's already the Best Bike in the World need the consolation prize of Best Bike in Africa?
  10. An absolute masterpiece...but I wouldn't be seen dead on one. This is strictly one for the dudes who can han average 350 watts for an hour or more.
  11. If I may parachute in here, I recently fell with my Logic and quickly discovered that chromoly is NOT corrosion resistant. Better have the number of a good frame painter on speed dial (as I have now) when you ride these steel bikes, especially an MTB. Still wouldn't trade steel for anything else, except maybe Ti....
  12. Not necessarily, plenty of aero bottles and cages available.
  13. Yippieee, I have to wait another month! That'll be a four month wait after paying in full. I guess the paying customer doesn't matter, unless he's over 1.8m.
  14. Did you get the 53cm Road Logic frame that my LBS ordered about 2 months ago?
  15. Bontrager Evoke RXL at 145 grams is the lightest saddle you can get for 1500. I have one and I love it.
