  1. For sure, very happy I don't have to ride against her!!
  2. Wish I could post Marissa vd Merwe's power profile on the hub... I am sure it will make a couple of people choke on their lunch. We absolutely have the talent in SA with people like Marissa and Cherise. The least the rest of us can do is to support them and to remember that they are riding against the best in the world. Pretty much like sending our local pro's to ride against all the Pro tour teams. Believe me, racing against those chicks is daunting enough - the last thing you want to read or hear about is ANOTHER negative comment about women's cycling and people attacking you personally without ever meeting you. Go kick some ass girls!!!
  3. Riding overseas is a completely different ball game to riding locally. I have seen most of the girls ride overseas and it is a real shame that Robyn and Lynette were not selected, as I believed they would have contributed to good results for the team. It's sad that Ronel is ending her career like this. She still had a couple of good year's ahead and she worked very hard on her cycling this year. If selected under the circumstances, it will put a lot of pressure on her to perform, which also is not fair. Marissa is a great selection for the team - she has the form, the experience and the talent and guts to get a good result. Good luck to you guys!
  4. I would like to know why Robyn de Groot and Lynette Burger are not in the team for Worlds? Both gave up their time to ride for the national team in China when a lot of the big guns preferred to stay at home and ride at nationals. They are not afraid to do some racing and are actually capable of racing in the front of the bunch. In my opinion they should both have been on the squad along with Marissa and Yolandi.
  5. Weet nie hoe mens so iets kan doen nie... Hier is 'n foto van my baby!
  6. It's a shame because it is one of the best on the calendar!
  7. PRESS RELEASE<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> TOUR de LESOTHO It is with regret that the Tour de Lesotho Organising Committee is forced to announce the cancellation of the 2007 edition of the event. The event organisers found it difficult to secure sponsorship for the 8th edition of Africa?s Toughest Cycle Challenge and had no other option but to cancel. Effort will be made to reschedule the event on a later date. PREPARED BY; A.BESTER e-mail:cycle@sunint.co.za tel:09266 22325300 fax:09266 22325300
  8. Pleasure Nellie! Unfortunately I'm also 'vertically challenged' (stopped growing at 13??)
  9. Yes, it's a stock standard Fuji, 49cm. Proline took mine back when I left the team, so they should have one handy in her size. Last time she was perfectly fine after her run-in with the taxi. My husband spoke to her manager, Alex Cooper this morning and it doesn't sound serious at all. At least she is ok! Think it was an over-enthusiastic reporter trying to make the story a little more interesting
  10. After spending a good couple of hours in the sun at the prize giving (I was waiting for the draw for the VW Golf - was convinced I was gonna drive it back to Pretoria) I am so sun burned the 'come naked' doesn't sound too bad at all!
  11. Hey Fatty.. it's ok, I still got my bubbly and flowers, so they couldn't have been too upset. As I didn't have any backup there and had to ride the 5km back to the hotel, I had to choose between the booze and the flowers... needless to say, a friendly lady got the flowers! Riding to the hotel with my bicycle, balancing a 1.5 litre bottle of bubbly on the handlebars, 9:30 on a Sunday morning - I got LOADS of comments as you can imagine!!
  12. I have used it for almost a year now and I won't easily go back to normal rings. Don't know how it works but it makes you faster, for sure!
  13. Hey shame...wonder of haar mamma weet!!
  14. We wish Elsa and Louise a speedy recovery. I agree it happens too often.. Lynette Burger also got knocked off her bike early last week by a reckless driver
  15. Really didn't think of it as STEALING Steve. I was just a bit lazy to download the photos our manager took at prize giving and I probably should have known better.. won't happen again
