  1. Does anyone know where we can get a GPS route for the TB? The link on the TB website does not work.
  2. The china light I got has three settings, but the one is the rapid disco light thingy to use for who knows what. Sold as a 1800 lumens, but I cannot compare it with any other light I have, but with the brightest setting I can probably light up the Baviaans. Have not tested the total battery life, but recon it should reach 8hours (hope), most lights do. Will let it shine over the weekend to check it out, since I am not planning a 8 hour night race any time soon. At 23usd, worth the risk.
  3. I bought this light from Aliexpress for $23 (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/T6-Bicycle-Light-HeadLight-1800-Lumens-3-Mode-Waterproof-Bike-Front-Light-LED-HeadLamp-With-8/654272020.html). Works perfect. Paid for the light on Alibaba and then R35 odd at the post office on receipt of the light for VAT and Clearance. Bargain. Have not fully tested the battery life yet. Tested it for 6 hours once on the "less" bright setting, this setting I found more than enough for riding in any case. It looks like the same light is selling for R1150 on CWC.
  4. Sub10, that is an epic ride. We are not there, probably 13 is what we are aiming for. Mid pack and it will be a successful 1st go. So I will fall in that slower category.....
  5. I just checked some guy's Strava upload of the Baviaans last year, his gps measures temp as well. It never went above 20 and dropped to 3 at night. That is hellava cold in the mountains. Those temp's we will easily get in Bloem so I recon I should be kitted for that, I am more concerned about the rain. We don't get rain here in winter. Cold is one thing, wet and cold is another.
  6. My first time doing baviaans, excited and worried at the same time. Who are the Bloem riders going? We are 5 guys training together, but would be nice getting together with a different group for weekend rides Also, what type of clothing should we be taking along? Arm warmers, leg warmers, base layer, soft shell and rain jackets is what I picked up. Anything else? And finaly, is it necessary for to take along extra cycling jerseys and shorts?
  7. Holy mother of fingers!
  8. You just kept me busy for a hour looking at all these different pictures after I Googled the chaps name. Very weird.
  9. Try GPS logger on BB. I used it to log rides and you can follow previously recorded rides, but maybe you can try importing routes.
  10. Agree, I noticed the "Shorter Oxford" Dictionary, never knew it existed, must be a great read.
  11. I was in a flat panic the whole video!!

  15. Where there's a will there is a way...
  16. Hahaha, now I see.......
  17. Also, check the classifieds, you can pick up good watches from there if you don't mind sharing a HR belt someone else used.
  18. I have the Garmin Forerunner. Bit bulky for a watch, but excellent. At 3k you can get a great watch if you want the basics. I like the Garmin, never looses signal and when you travel it picks up the signal within a minute or two. Do not get a full bike GPS, when you run, you might have to choose between a Ipod or the GPS, or carry both and risk looking like the terminator going down the road. Make sure you get a bike mount for the watch, build it into your budget, having a watch rattle on your arm during a ride is frustrating!
  19. Avalanche at Sportmans I saw is R1 800, that is a complete bike! A complete **** bike, but complete none the less. Does not even make any sense that the cheapest spare wheel I can find is more than that. Maybe buy the bike from Sportmans, take the wheel and throw out the rest. Cheaper that way.
  20. Zork, hope I understand your question right. I got a extra quick release with my IDT that the IDT can clasp onto and that fits on my bike. Bought the IDT when I got the 29er so I assume the LBS gave me one that is compatible. Looks something like this http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/ODIyWDg5Mg==/$T2eC16NHJF8E9nnC6IpVBQTSbVuIuQ~~60_35.JPG?set_id=880000500F
  21. Ok, so I can get a 26 and put a 10speed on. No brakes are needed, but would a rim brake wheel fit on my bike if I have disc brakes? Almost seems as if some things will be in the way, don't know. I see a 10 speed cassette is about R700 for the cheapest I can find. Still bloody expensive, do you know what the cheapest is? The 10spd on my bike is new, not even 300km on it, so makes no sense changing that.
  22. I am getting gatvol of removing my tyre every time I use the IDT, to such a extend, I just don't want to use the IDT. I have 2x10 speed cassette on a 29er. Ok, maybe I am a cheapskate, but paying R2 200 for a indoor trainer wheel just does not make sense, there are better things to buy I am not a bike guru, but will I be able to use a 9spd cassete or a a 26er or anything that will make it cheaper? Maybe someone has a old one lying around the house looking for a new owner.
  23. It is damn frustrating. All the programs I have on disc I need to first put into my pc, rip it to a flash and then install it to the mac!!
