  1. Whahahaha!!! Kudos to the brother for taking out some skinnies!
  2. Haha, give that man a Bells!
  3. Iron/hot/strike ????
  4. I suspect the reading has been done already, it's the response I'm interested in. I suspect some damage control is being planned as we speak. Something along the lines of "we promise to take your concerns into consideration for future events" or "The team responsible for the water tables will get a stern talking to" or "an unhappy President Jacob Zuma says his critics were “unfair” to depict him as “corrupt” regarding spending on security upgrades at his private Nkandla homestead". Perhaps Mac can help out a little here??
  5. They had the time and energy to comment on Twitter, how about doing the same on South Africa's largest cycling website??
  6. How about we pay AFTER the event... That would get their arses into a different gear all together.....
  7. So no response from the organisers... @Tim_Fair???
  8. #water was a problem from the word go, we were on the ultra, so the first(ish) riders to go through, and even then it was finished. There was a MOERSE tank 500 m up the road though, why not put the h2o point there
  9. This is a really cool approach. One or two comments though: What can we reasonably expect on the races then? Should Fritz not drop the entry fee (Big Man Forbid!) and call it a self supported race. Have you tested yourself for typhoid after those "cool downs"? You need to do some cadence work... 58km/h (even on 2x10) is unforgivable! You should get closer to 65-70km/h
  10. SOME results are on LT, they only have them up to ~8hours for the ultra... Needless to say... My bum hurts today!
  11. Nice organising with the water at the 3rd waterpoint... ???? Not so cool not getting any when there is still 70km to go...
  12. Hope you've got wheels in stock the week after Fritz!
  13. Thanks Kandui! I suspect this advice just saved me some cash! I'll get you a beer at the end
  14. That makes sense, fortified drinks make lots more sense than eating 26 hamburgers! There is still however a BIG question hanging over the head of Glutamine and Creatine in endurance sport.
  15. Hi Hubbers, I've been reading A LOT regarding supplementation over the last 2-3 weeks, and the more I read, the more I wonder if we are being taken for a very expensive ride... My searches have been focused on the scientific literature, and looking in particular at supplementing with Glutamine, Creatine and supplementation as part of recovery strategies (e.g. high proteine high KJoule recovery drinks). To be honest, I failed to find ONE reliable article that supports the use of these products / strategies. So my question, I guess, is: Does anyone have any data that backs the use of anything more than a replenishment strategy for recovery, especially in endurance events such as the Cape Epic?
  16. http://app.strava.com/segments/6210770 Hope that helps
  17. Eish, this is a bit naf.. If your legs are too tired to start once you've done drinking, why not train a bit harder next year? Else do MTB, it's MUCH more scenic, albiet a bit too dangerous for 'some' I suspect...
  18. Don't forget the beer!! R120 for a sixpack!! I can't however make it at that price, so really can't complain
  19. www.carboncombat.org I'll keep saying it until we win our freedom back!! http://losangeles.bitter-lemons.com/files/2010/03/braveheart.jpg
  20. Take control back people! www.carboncombat.org
  21. Do it on your MTB, it oozes cool much more than the poof wheel types.
  22. Ah! Illumination! A roadie who couldn't cut it!
  23. SLIGHTLY sweaty?? wth is that???
  24. And there EPO sales go through the roof in Pretoria!!
  25. Or you could hook up with some roadies, they are VERY experienced at fixing flats! Seriously though: Don't try to use non-UST tyres as tubeless, they are a bugger to inflate if you don't have a high pressure pump (i.e. the local Caltex) and don't have a strong enough side wall if you go techie. As for tyres, the Maxxis Ikon is a great option for weight and grip, but quite honestly, any brand name is good. Don't go for the very cheap options in tyres, they disintigrate after a while. Vredestein, Conti, Schwalbe all are good.
