  1. I had a Menabo, had a couple of quality issues, ended up selling it for cheap - I'd rather get a Thule.
  2. I've only heard good things about Castelli...
  3. I love my Edge 200, it just works, and is perfect if you're only looking for speed and distance.
  4. Agreed, better (lighter/cooler/more comfortable) than the R600 Giro I was using before.
  5. I live in Sunninghill, old start/finish point was perfect for me
  6. I've got X5 shifters and RD, and a Deore FD on my bike with a triple crankset.
  7. Just a note on the Tektro HDC300 brakes, I got a set on my last bike, also did not like them at first - but they definitely get a lot better once the pads wear in. I planned for that to be my first upgrade and have since not found any fault with them, and upgraded shifters instead.
  8. I can't bring myself to enter this one considering it normally costs me R15 entry to ride there!
  9. I've got a First Ascent pack, bladder didn't last more than 2 months (cap to close it broke). The bag itself is great though, but I'm going to get a Camelbak replacement bladder rather than a cheap one.
  10. I've got Hellcats and Freeriders but I think I need a pair of those new Impacts!
  11. This is what I do, I don't have a bike rack. I get a medium Momsen 29er into the backseat of my C Class easily - though I remove the seatpost as well which makes it a bit easier.
  12. 800 lumen is enough, I've done the Kia night races at Modderfontein with a 600 lumen handlebar light only. I did get myself a headlamp as well now, would still be fine without it though. I'm also doing this one.
  13. I've got UST/LUST Ardents front and back, lots of grip and bulletproof. Highly recommended.
  14. In my first year of riding I only fell twice, once when I was doing 40kph down a gravel road and swallowed a tsetse fly and panicked - still have the scar for that one, and another minor one attempting a log ramp thing. In my second year now and I've fallen about 6-7 times this year already. Mostly minor, but it's definitely because I'm pushing myself a little more technically. Last fall was a biggish one, nothing broken though, thankfully. I find that most of my falls are quick, so I'm going down whether I'm clipped in or riding on flats (I ride both based on which bike I feel like taking out). I tend to ride a little better when clipped in though, I commit to clearing sections properly because I know I don't have the luxury of putting a foot down. If you're already using cleats, maybe stick to them for that reason.
