  1. I think a distinction should be made between the type of service you are expecting. If you like tinkering on your own bike then crc is the way to go. Otherwise, you are at the mercy of an lbs
  2. and generally, you normally find a way around the loo issue, especially when you're running out of options...
  3. Most of the ski resorts have mtb rentals. Its a way for them to keep an income during the summer season. You will have no problem in renting the equipment. And pretty decent stuff as well, from xc to dh. And trust me, they will most probably be able to help you out in English. These are major tourist attractions. Or just ask the better half to take you to the ski lifts and help out with the translation. Its normally not an issue. And remember, enjoy the scenery. Its pretty awesome.
  4. Sorry to hear. Will keep an eye open
  5. Damn, I hate living here..., but I guess someones got to do it. Count me in on the next ride!
  6. The visor is very annoying with a road bike since your body position is more horizontal. I found looking in front of you is much harder with the visor as you have to lift your head up much higher, so I tend to take it of when on a road bike. But on mtb its back on, otherwise I look like a roady. You'll probably also find that the roady versions are more aerodynamic, but I guess that is up for debate
  7. Very unfortunate. Prayers to the family. "but the driver alleges that the cyclist crossed the roadway unsafely in front of his approaching Toyota before the crash" ... probably while driving in the yellow lane. Or am I being a bit judgemental?
  8. Ja, strangely enough these guys were just walking along the sidewalk. I think when they saw me they they thought of taking a chance. So please take care guys.
  9. Thanks. Its just an assumption and I was pretty shaken by the ordeal when I posted this. But, by the way they walked and acted it was clear that they were not sober. And tik is quite a common issue around these parts.
  10. Hi all, I was almost hijacked while on a cycle in the Stellenbosch area this morning. It was on the R44 on the way to Klapmuts/Paarl, just past the Franschhoek/Helshoogte turnoff at Cloetesville. Three men approached me, but I managed to turn around and get out of there. They ran after me, but I was luckily in the right gear at the time. I went directly to the Stellenbosch police station, warning oncoming cyclist on the way. Please be aware of this area! These guys are full of tik
  11. I've given up on Polar. Switched to Garmin. They have good mac support.
