Frail I don't know when you are going to get this as most of you only go onto the net when you dock... My son is a fitness instructor on the Island Princess .... having recently spent 8 months on the Saphire Princess. He has another 5 months !!!They cruise from Acapulco, Mexico to San Juan, Puerto Rico via the Panama Canal and visa versa. He took his " baby " with him. On his free days he puts on his Sasol or Jowett's Cycling Club kit on and goes out riding. He stores his bike in the Spa - gym. To ship your bike to you is going to cost an arm and a helmet. Either buy one there where you are .... when you get off, you can either sell it to one of the other crew or take it home with you and it goes on the next cruise or you simply wait till you get home and take it with next time round. My son did the latter. We got him a not so expensive bike - R 6k when he came home which he took. His good bike hangs in his bed room. Rather loose or have a R 6k bike than a R 30k bike. He was quite lucky in that he fley SA to Canada via London and his bike was free... Hope this info helps ...good luck and enjoy while you can !!!!
Hey Linnege You love this subject, don't you !!!!!!!!!! and no one is going to change your mind. Your responce to this shocks me quite a bit as I have a lot of respect for your input on this website !!!!!! I don't often respond to much on this website but I read just about everything....you know that and i'm sure you know who I am, I know who you are and follow your results !!!!!!!!! Let me tell you a story ...... I have a 22 year old son, well know in KZN elite cycling who was involved in a genuine cycling accident at the SuperCycling race in Edenvale about 3 years ago. There was a rock in the road and the kids to evasive action with warning there fellow cyclists and he was taken out by the guy infront of him .....speed 55km/hr he landed on his NUT and his Giro saved his life !!!!!!! Fortunatly the only other damage was a broken collar bone. To make matters worse I to was also riding and had covered some 15kms when the phone call came thru.... Don't wait till it happens to you before you change your mind !!!!! There are many other stories I can quote !!!! Don't add feul to the fire !!!!! Regards Gary
Bought a 2nd hand tandem from Hype - also a hubber, who is in CT. The other half and I love it, so do the kids...did our first offical race ....The Tour Durban in 4h41min, battled due to lack of fittnes, but will not sell it for anything yet...did not fight once...really... it is a Trek 2000.
