  1. Stolen: Giant XTC 2015 When: 28/04/2022Where: Roundhay, Cape Town, Western CapePictures say about all I can about the bike. Stolen in Somerset West on Thursday 28th April.Get further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section.
  2. With so much going for Mountain Biking ... why do they feel the need to add more fuel to the fire to chase people away from Road races ... All valid comments: Accommodation and travel Partners and riding in groups the next big number (be it 5, 10, 15 ... ) Cost of R 470.00 for the race, (plus PPA Fee which most people only pay for the Argus benefit) Seeding events ... What is the point ... If the 35,000 "selected few" are all a sub 4 time ... if you get a draw even without a single seeding race you will start in a sub 4 group ... Have they really not thought about any of this? Or are they arrogant enough to believe that people don't care ... I will consider putting my name down, but I will not do seeding rides, will not pay PPA membership and who knows ... maybe that is the sad end of it for my Argus experiences ...
  3. I did not get as far as the info on sizes as Adidas South Africa has not ordered them ... SO they are not on the list to ever be available in any size in South Africa ...
  4. As an Adidas user, I took on the challenge. I went looking for costing and availability ... Started phoning retail outlets, then Adidas retail stores ... then Adidas Head Office ... Shoes can be found in banner advert here: http://www.adidas.co.za/outdoor - Local South African Website Link here: http://www.adidas.co.za/terrex-trail-cross-shoes/B44143.html HOWEVER ... Shoes cannot be bought here: South Africa!!
  5. Great read ... and much learned ... I would like to pose the question as to where in Western Cape sells a range of flat shoes to actually test the fit? I can easily access anywhere from Northern Suburbs to Helderburg ...
  6. TomTom Multi-Sport ... Excellent value for money ... I use the speed and cadence sensor on my Road Bike, the GPS on the watch for speed on my MTB ... works for running, swimming and even on the treadmill ... Out the box for about for about R 4k with bike mountings ... and can upload in almost every format to most popular sites ... If you want to take it up a notch, they even provide for one with a built in heart rate monitor on the watch so no strap ... !
  7. After splitting hairs over a bike ... the service received won the battle ... Geco Cycles in Durbanville ... Fantastic Service
  8. I have been contemplating this concept as well and wondering if I will need to get a custom made rack ... Had a look at Venter Bike rack on link provided ... looks good and sturdy ... U Brackets for up to 26" wheels ... not sure what happens for 650B or 29" ... ?
  9. Good day all out there ... I have a question if anybody else has possibly experienced the same problem ... and how they managed to get round it ... The magnet for my cadence sensor does not fit between the frame of my Scott Solace and the crank .. I see there are possibly magnets that fit into the pedal socket, has anybody had experience with these, or other methods of solving the problem? Thanks!
  10. Was going to wait to post pics ... But the Scott 30 ... Dressed In a Scott 20 kit ...
  11. Ended up splitting hairs on the bike ... so went with the better service ... and the more accommodating LBS ... A fantastic deal, from Geco Cycles near Cape Gate, upgraded components to full Ultegra ... A pleasure to deal with ... and went out their way to find a deal to match me ...
  12. My first ever non-road experience was also atop a Mongoose Switchback, R4k in 2013 ... Great fun ... the idea was to keep the road riding to myself and play with the family on the MTB ... The Mongoose initially handled almost anything I was capable of throwing at it ... lasted about 4 months ... didn't destroy it ... decided that this whole new world of off road riding and not having to worry about pebble in the road opened a world of possibility ... so I outgrew the capabilities and subsequently bought a full suss Specialized ...
  13. Was looking at what is available now, thus these two options. Spez has Axis rims and Scott has Shimano RS 11's
  14. In my honest humble opinion, I bought a Tom Tom ... Provides for HRM - certain models integrated so no need for strap Swimming laps GPS Treadmill I use the speed and cadence sensor on my road bike ... The gps speed on the watch for my mtb Can upload to almost any fitness format, incl. Strava Excellent value for money, and if the strap breaks you can replace the strap ... Not like some Garmins?
  15. Ok, so I am down to two ... Scott Solace 30: Pro's: Wheel set better of the two Shimano 105 brake calliper - front Con's: 2014 edition of the 105 giving it only 10 speed Don't know if I like the idea of a brake caliper under the BB? Roubaix Pros Full 2015 105 kit so 11 speed... Cons: Axis wheel set and brake calipers Any constructive Suggestions from anybody out there that has one of these? I have crossed the Trek Madone 4.3 off the list, and the Giant TCR ... Thanks
