  1. Seems the same chain slap amount to me and the shifting is no different... The derailleur certainly does not have the same tension as what I remember any of my SRAM units I have had...
  2. Thanks man, I will check what you mentioned. Everything wore in together from new... Its falling off when shifting, I had adjusted the limit screw but after about 20km of working perfectly it would fall off again. I had adjusted the limit screw and so has the shop which is what has me confused at what could be causing this... I doubt the frame would be able to be adjusted, its carbon but will ask shop to check. I will check the hanger as well, but like I said kinda had that problem since day one with the bike, again bought brand new.
  3. Ok perfect, thanks guys... And would say an X7 Rear shifter work with an X9 RearD or must it be X9 matching an X9?
  4. Yes I have a 2014 Specialized Stumpjumper HT Carbon Comp.... thats a mouth full... hahaha I was curious because my FrontD is a SRAM X7 and the shifter is an SLX...? Surely the back should work then as well?
  5. Thanks guys... Importantly I did not measure over a 12" distance, will remeasure tonight and update. Not sure if it is too long, its had this problem since new and its the recommended chain for this system... Lastly just thought about it, do I really need to change the SLX shifters if I put a SRAM 10-speed RearD on? My FrontD is a SRAM X7 and using SLX 2-Speed shifter for this??? I will change the jockey wheels, but would rather change the derailleur to a SRAM thus my questions to my problems... I do prefer SRAM over Shimano but would this fix my problem with the change, and also would Medium cage length be better than the long that came with the bike? I am assuming I would be fine with a medium cage, even if later on I changed to a 1X10 setup... but not a 1X11...
  6. So you cant use the SLX shifters with the SRAM 10 speed derailleur? Shouldnt be a big problem, will buy a new back shifter for now, planning on going 1 X 10 at a later stage.
  7. Thanks, where is the tab located so I can look for this? I haven't noticed a big difference in tension when the clutch is activated very not. The shop did measure for stretch and chain is still fine, I further measured it from center of pin to center of pin, it still measures 1" so nothing wrong there. Chain just seems soft and flexible....
  8. Hi Everyone, Needing some help please with my drive train. __________________________________ Firstly What I Have: CRANKSET: Custom SRAM S-1250, 7050 alloy arms, 10-speed XC double, PF30 spindle, 175mm FRONT DERAILLEUR: SRAM X7, 10-speed, 34.9mm clamp, top pull REAR DERAILLEUR: Shimano XT Shadow Plus, 10-speed, SGS long cage SHIFT LEVERS: Shimano SLX, 10-speed, trigger CASSETTE: SRAM PG-1030, 10-speed, 11-36 CHAIN: SRAM PC 1031, 10-speed, PowerLink _______________________________________ Now My Problems: - Bad Chain Slap, with clutch on and off... - Keep dropping the chain off the big front ring, I have tuned it and had the shop tune it, even lowering the mount a touch but still after about 20km of riding the problem starts up again.. - Sometimes when standing to power up a small climb the back gears would skip up one and then back down, mainly on the smaller cassette gears... On the stand the gears shift perfectly even on the trail its perfect, just when I stand up to power up a short hill it would jump every now and then. Limit screws are set and tension on cable is great for fast and smooth shifting. - This weekend my chain kept hoping off the bottom jockey free wheel of the Rear Derailleur jamming it between the cage and the free wheel. When I took it apart nothing seemed to be wrong despite seeing it wobble and throw the chain off while on the trail and stopping to unjam it. - Lastly the chain seems to have a bad flex in it, but since the beginning. Its been measured and not worn to the point of replacing it _________________________________________________ Bike is about 3-4 months old, done about 850kms and bought it brand new so first owner. I have never been a Shimano fan, none of the derailleurs I have had worked great and also been fussy. I am thinking of replacing it with a SRAM X9 type 2, most likely a medium cage since is a 2X10 setup and perhaps a new chain However would this help solve the problems I am having or must I check somewhere else for the cause of these problems before spending the money? Thanks in advance for your help, looking forward to your feedback. Kind Regards, Tim
  9. I must agree with you in a big way... Bought a Stumpjumper HT Carbon Comp this year and after 3 months and and 800KM the rear hub sounded bad, like you said a concrete mixer... Also keen to replace my hubs, but now need to decide if I need to get a whole new wheel set with hubs or keep the standard rims...
  10. Def agree here.... just the cream sode flavor for me.... but needs to be ice sold....
  11. Get Gordon Ramsay to go in there and sort them out... Doesnt have to be a kitchen for him to sort out messy places.... Besides would make for entertaining TV for a change....
  12. Why are they crap and what maintenance did you have to do to them? There is only 2 bearings, they are either stuffed and need replacement or you clean it out and re-oil..
  13. Very cool to see suzzie in SA colors.....
  14. Hi, Thanks for this, never knew this.... Would my rear derailleur be compatible as I dont have that exact model, mine is: Shimano XT Shadow Plus, 10-speed, SGS long cage Regarding the cassette upgrade, so those are additional gears which add to your existing cassette?? Lastly anyway to confirm that the front chain ring is compatible with my crankset: Custom SRAM S-1250, 7050 alloy arms, 10-speed XC double, PF30 spindle, 175 Thanks again, this is a light at the end of the tunnel...
  15. P.S. I am very keen on a 1X system... just need to find the 13-15k for the upgrade of the groupset...
  16. hahaha.... I love the hub... always fun to read the ports for sure!!! All points noted and taken... Working on the weight loss bit for me... Like I said I have a limited budget and cant go willy nilly, have to save up long and hard to make changes and want to make the right changes... Will get bike on a scale and see what weight is now and compare, then take from there..... Its not a C*@$ swinging exercise at all. I do think perhaps there is a lot of Stans in the wheels, my LBS did it for me on the first service. Otherwise using the Specialized S-Works Fast Trak tires which are already light enough.. I think first thing would be upgrading the wheels to something a touch lighter but still strong... I do agree that I dont need the LIGHTEST bike in the world, however same as surfing a light board turns much easier and performs better than surfing a very thick chunky board... lighter one breaks a lot easier as well so you need to mix and match to get what you can afford... Thanks for the input though, keep it coming..
  17. hahaha not so much... Been on a strict eating plan and lost a couple of KG's already... Physically the bike it feeling heavier... So I have started "within" in terms of losing weight myself, however need to work on the "without" and make bike lighter a bit as well...
  18. Hi everyone... I bought a 2014 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp HT (Carbon).... I dont have an actual weight it was, however quoted about 10.8kg out the box.. assuming tool bag and water should add another KG to the total... I feel like it was lighter when I bought it than it is now, I haven't made any changes other than convert to tubeless.... Can it get heavier??? I made sure the drain hole below the BB is open... Other than the basics, carbon stem, carbon handlebars, carbon seat post, wheels... What else can I look at doing to make the bike lighter?? I dont have a large budget and would be over a number of months but would really like to make the bike lighter again, feeling very sluggish now... :(
  19. I agree... the woza part put me off right away as well as the lack of address or land line numbers. I was checking this for a friend whom wants to buy an S-Works and came across this site some how... The usual saying goes, if it looks too good to be true.. it is... Thanks again everyone for the input... Not sure if Admin can lock this out one, dont want to hash on the past thread.
  20. Sorry, I wish you could say it was only PTA drives... Umhlanga they do the same thing... Taxis and cars both with go through a red light 4-5 seconds after its turned red.... I get the fields hill truck accident which demolished 3 cars to a pulp by a truck running a red light is long forgotten....
  21. Thanks Admin, and everyone else for the help!!! Sorry for the duplication
  22. Hi Guys, Anyone bought from here before, wanted to get your input on if you think this is legit or not? S-Works Stumpjumper with top spec selling for way below what it normally sells as a brand new bike??? 28K for a TOP spec bike with XX1..... http://collectiblesbicycles.wozaonline.co.za/products Looking forward to your feedback. Kind Regards, Tim
  23. Like I said in the post I tried on the 2013 model of the same shoe and the 2014 fit like a glove... I seem to have a wider front part to my foot which was squeezed into my other shoes which feel so much better. I got mine from the Specialized Concept Shop in Ballito, KZN... They are listed for R 1999 but got a slight discount from there as well. Good luck with your purchase. Kind Regards, Tim
  24. I must agree Specialized had been a winner for me so far... I started this a week ago, might be of help to you.. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/135798-which-to-buy-mtb-shoes/
