  1. On u choob, try MAD Motorcycle Adventure Dirtbike TV. Beautifully shot adv biking movies, some feature length. I also like eveRideadv. Missing my bikes!
  2. Bliksem, with Flight Data Monitoring that would be a “please explain” to the safety department!! (Seems like it landed beyond the touchdown zone)
  3. Sunrise from the “office” somewhere over India earlier this month.
  4. Indeed Swiss, I am off council water fo 18 months now, but I do need to speed up my energy independence plan!
  5. Will be installing solar power, batteries and inverter in my wine room, rest of the house makes do with gas cooking and lanterns. The gennie is there for Rugby and Moto GP!
  6. And I probably won’t want one anymore! To be true, these electric bikes are becoming awesome with the amount of instant torque available, but for this grey beard........I like the sound of a lekker bike when “on the pipe” as they say, be it 1 to 6 cylinders in any configuration!
  7. When living in Josie, I did day rides to that trout place outside Nelspruit....Millies I think. Sure you can buy smoked trout in Josie, but nicer to go and get it at the trout farm!600km round trip if I remember correctly! Did Josie Scottburgh for the night on the FZR, was a lekker ride!
  8. Dont know how I did that, Nice Beemer for the money!!
  9. Ha ha, yeah, a reason why they are called Fuglies!
  10. No collectors item, but my humble KLR enjoying a trip to Swartburg Pass via Paardepoort.
  11. Montagu Pass today. A bit hot, and perhaps not the best choice for a recovering from illness ride, but stellar all the same!
  12. Nope, regular FZR 1000 RU. It is a US import, speedo in mph. Bought from KCR in Kempton..........last century!
  13. Yup, December 1994 on the frame ID plate. Just shy of 120 000kms.
  14. The old Yam turns 25 this year. Just fitted a new Pirelli rear and felt the need to scrub it in on a scenic ride..........so to Robinsons Pass. The last tyre had just 1600 km and flatted with a 10 mm cut in the centre part of the tread.......real bummer, but I wont repair that, hense the new tyre!
  15. Either OSI or OZV is looking very sad parked up at Cape Town, beyond the runway when seen from the terminal.
  16. I spent some years flying these around the globe. This is Camp Bastion in Afghanistan. We had a contract with the RAF out of Brize......great crews, interesting destinations,........excellent times!
  17. Thanks, would have been nice, we have our aeroplane there for around 10 days, but crew change, I am currently in Dubai, heading home to SA. If you ever find yourself in Kuwait............PM, we can do the full strength expresso!
  18. I was due to go to Innsbruk on the 9th. Here I am in Munich! No diversion though. The forecast weather was showing below minimums and the various restrictions on the approaches together with the terrain and snow meant that Munich was the best option. Passing Innsbruk the actual weather was as crap as the forecast had indicated. We did have light snow on landing here. Today to sunny SA!
  19. I have video of a take off at Brize Norton some years back. We had a contract flying out of there. Was lucky enough to meet the crew and get a look around inside the machine after we had landed back one morning.Fantastic aeroplane.
  20. Great awareness on the rotor blade diameter, awesome flying, in both vids!
  21. Beautiful. That bike is stunning too, enjoy the ride!
  22. Boschluiskloof, beautiful. If you do Meiringspoort the R407 off the N12 at Klaarstroom is a fine fast run on big ADV bikes. Follows the north line of the Swartburg to Willowmore. Then down to Uniondale snd you have the option of Prince Alfred Pass to Knysna or Kamanassie valley to link to George or Oudtshoorn. If you do Swartburg Pass it is likely to be like the N1 with traffic! Sadly, I won’t be home. Am out at work til mid January.
  23. First pic looks like south to north before the real steep stretch, very beautiful in that valley. Yeah, big bikes on some of them roads but at least very comfy on the wide open dirt. My KLR is lekker on the narrow tight stuff but a little of an effort if there are any tar stretches of much length. I rde around 90 kph on the tar, in the perhaps misguided belief that it promotes less wear on the knobblies! Your dusty pic is one of my favourite areas too. That corner is where we had our first gravel travel bakkie tailgate picnic when we moved from Josie to the Garden Route! The whole area is a dream for Adv bikes! Or Any gravel travel really.
  24. R327, bridge over the Gouritzrivier. The R327 links to a gravel road just outside Herbertsdale that heads toward the R328 with options to join it at Brandwacht (closer to Mossel Bay) or near the Eight Bells Mountain Inn at the bottom of Robinsons Pass. Either way is an excellent ride. From either point too, one can take gravel to Groot Brak Rivier and George. The Gysmanshoek Pass is beautiful, did that on a “gravel travel” picnic in the bakkie, with the Missus. Did you do Rooiberg Pass to Calitzdorp? I went over last week, very rocky.
