  1. Lots of bike for the money. There is a 2011 at one of the George dealers. Very nice nic too, but I think I will look for 2014/5 just that little newer.
  2. Ha ha, yeah..........I dont really know. I love road bikes, in fact nearly all bikes, anything with 2 wheels and an engine! I could add in a 2009 1st gen X plane crank R1, or the perfect 2002 R1, or one of my favourite fun bikes, a Yammie MT09, or a 2006 1098 for track days. But I will settle with my geriatric FZR1000 and my more ancient Honda CB’s. Where I live I think the the S10 is better suited. My motley collection of road bikes dont do much mileage per year, a weekly run up Outeniqua Pass is about it. And only when I am in SA. In fact my 400f has not even run this year.......(mission for when I get home next week) FZR going in for a valve job too. So the S10. Two up, gravel travel, easy to ride, enough power for me! I really enjoy my little KLR, but the missus finds it uncomfy. She is not very well padded! The ‘Busa.........well....it is a machine., so smooth and a big gentle beast but one that can scare the living daylights out of you if not careful! I could add more.......1980s RD350, Pantah500, 90’s RS250 on and on!
  3. I am busy looking at options too. I have narrowed my choices down to Honda Africa Twin and Yammie Super Ten. Two very different bikes for different applications ha ha. I have ridden both on tar and dirt and I think my final choice will be the Super Ten as it is what I would like for two up Gravel Travel in the Karoo and it is comfy on tar. Dirt wise.......I am going to wait and see about that Yammie T700. In the meantime my little KLR does the job. But, I may just change my mind............I like a Hyabusa too!
  4. Sadly there has been a fatality at the TT. Inevitable people may say, but whatever ones thoughts are about road racing, it is a tremendous spectacle and one in which, I believe, everyone understands the risk. Dan Kneen has passed away after a crash during Superbike practice yesterday. RIP. Edited. Info from MCN.
  5. A big Euro lottery win and a Suter would be in my garage! Would need to keep it under wraps so I don’t dribble on it! That engine sound is terrific, the exhaust smell must be stella!
  6. Dean Harrison has done a 133.14 (214 kph) lap in Tuesday nights practice......from a standing start!
  7. From a different angle. Yes it is a little jewel of a machine. Only 78000kms. It is pretty handy for old fashioned “scratching” on the Outeniqa Pass. The modern Sports Bikes of course are blisteringly fast out of the corners but this little bike can carry a decent corner speed. It does have new rear shocks and rebuilt front suspension!
  8. That is my baby bike, Honda CB400f 1975. I used to take the Missus on breakfast runs out to Harties in the mid 80’s on that machine..............and we are still married ha ha! (Lived in Hillbrow back then)
  9. Enjoyed a ride with my son a while back. Seven Passes road......stayed on the tar bits!
  10. An interesting variety of machines, very nice.

First time I have seen this, I missed the Moto 3 race, and never caught up with it on VideoPass. I wonder too, that if the bike had landed on tar or hard runoff, the rear suspension would have spat him off. Definite skills, but also much luck.
  12. Yes, 650 cc. I have been looking to buy an Africa Twin, but after the confirmation of the new Yammie 700 for 2019, I think I will wait and check that out. Either way the little KLR is a keeper.
  13. One of the last of the KLRs imported in to SA. Is a 2015 model. I love it. Could use a little more power at times, but over all very good value. Mine has Wilbers front springs (longer than std) and runs the DNA airfilter and Leo Vinci pipe combo.
  14. Went to buy milk in Sedgefield a couple of days ago. Took the long route via Montagu Pass and back over Prince Alfred Pass, a beautiful 200 km ride!
  15. Nice words.......beautiful bike, enjoy it!
  16. Yes they are, sadly a fatal crash on Outeniqua Pass yesterday, GS down. I was out and about on the ancient CB750, sad to see that.
  17. Saw this at one of my favourite shops when passing through Josie yesterday. So ugly I really like them and actually could see one in my garage. A tremendous amount of motorcycle for the money!
  18. Not envious of the Elsie at all........no ...never.....aarrrggghhhh! Yes, keep that. Perhaps when finished with the kids varsity, just maybe. Aprillia RS250 is lovely too, but north of 100 Grand now. Shame to sell the TRX though.
  19. Looks like a lot of helmet for the money. Good value. Regarding my wife learning to ride, I have the opportunity to buy back my sons original NXR 125, the forerunner to your lads XR 125. It still only has 1970 kms on, a +/- 2006 model! I am thinking hard about this, a great learner bike!
  20. Would multiple like this if I could. I do the 1980 RD “Elsie” but after making enquiries to import one I am finding this dream is slipping away. Pretty costly.
  21. Yeah, there are actually some tight corners for a real beginner. We will head out to the wide open roads in the Kamanasie valley, let her play around there. I sadly sold two beautiful little trainer bikes, a Honda 125 and a CRF 230, either would have been great.
  22. So....the Missus drops a bombshell! I have been away from home for the last month doing a course on a baby Gucci jet. During a slightly red wine infused Skype call the missus tells me that she wants to learn to ride a motorcycle! Says that since I am obsessed, she may just as well get into it to do gravel travel trips in the Karoo with me. A few days later, no wine involved, she is still keen on this. Actually quite stoked I am! She will have little go on my KLR when I get home next week.........then I need to decide, a cute little 250 to learn on or persevere with the KLR......mmm. I hope she copes with the KLR as, really, it can barely pull the skin off a rice pudding, but I appreciate she is new to motorcycling. (Love the little bike I do) Anyways, this is all rather exciting as we head to our middle 50’s!
  23. This sounds like a really cool ride!
