  1. That might be the understatement of the year! The route was a killer. It was surprising how many people mentioned their knees where toast. I increased my total mileage for the year by 21%, so that was a bonus. The gees of the event was great and the banter on the WhatsApp group kept going the whole night. It was awesome fun, well done to the organizers, who have now raised over R104k for SA Harvest.
  2. 150 registered, 105 started and 50 finished.
  3. Went there on Friday, climbed up to Saaltjie, got a puncture on the 1st section of Armageddon and rolled down to the gate after that. Super bummed. Headed straight to the Bike Hanger and bought Maxxis 29x2.5 Minion DHF and DHR. Those Specialized Butchers have the softest sidewalls! Saterday morning I returned to Jonkers and headed up to do Iron Monkey again. Felt good with the new tyres but got it very wrong on the Rock drop and had a sweet OTB into the rocks. Nursed it down the rest of Iron Monkey and then did the Plumber, I have done it 3 times now and starting to find a bit of flow on it. Some sections you just need to hold on and pray for the best. Finally i did the last section of Armageddon into Zululand and binned it on one of the last berms on Zululand 3. I think the nerves of the race are already showing and I was trying to go that 5% harder for prep of the race as well as trying to get to know my new 2.5inch tyres capabilities. havent fallen in such a long time so it good to push the limits again. See you on Sunday!
  4. Weather predictions anyone?
  5. Finally replaced my old road shoes with new Specialized Torch 3 in candy red.
  6. Ha ha, I had an absolute 'mair of a race! From a puncture in practice which required new tyres, to forgetting my shoes at home, to breaking my waterbottle cage and then breaking my 'due for replacement' roval rear wheel! You boys all rode well, respect on completing all 5 laps! I am missing the next race, but hopefully coming back stronger at the final race of the season.
  7. Not sure if Milky and the Cap will agree but i really like the new route. All the old features are still in there, but you approach them from different angles and the climbs are slightly different, much more flow in the route. Looking forward to tomorrow! Realized today i am going to miss #3, so need to make the most of this one!
  8. If someone is going out for a practice lap would you mind strapping a gopro on and sharing it here. I will also not get out there before raceday.
  9. Definately a crash replacement, I also cracked my screen on the 520, got a new one straight away. Was a little over R2000 if I remember correctly.
  10. Navworld, however, depending on the model, they can't do the a screen replacement. The will offer you a crash replacement at about 40% of the new value.
  11. Entries are open again, just entered the 60km.
  12. Tried to enter today and apparently the 60km is sold out. Hoping to pick one up in the classifieds by the end of the week.
  13. Thanks All, might hit the Bredasdorp trails then. Thanks Goosebay, going to be at Funky Fynbos again this year, need to regain my Title. Been running a bit again, but nowhere near ready to race that monster 30km trail run!
  14. Anyone have any updates on routes in the area? heading there this weekend.
  15. Now that everyone is XCO crazy, will we see a bigger turnout for Saterdays WP XCO at Rheebokskloof? Hope so!
  16. Does anyway know if seeding can be queried at registration? I heard a rumour it could be. Or better yet, anyone with a contact at the race office? ????
  17. Everyone seems a little quiet today? Nerves? I cant wait to suffer and chase Milky around for 1hr30 tomorrow!
  18. Long term weather forecast has YR predicting loads of rain with a gentle breeze and Accuweather says a pleasant day of 26'c. This could be an interesting year.
  19. Hi Milky, Have you filled your car yet? what time are you looking at leaving CPT? I am going to suffer this year, no where near as fit as i was last year, but fortunately harvest looks like it is 2 weeks late, so i will at least be a little fresher this time around.
  20. I cant wait for this event! have booked my accommodation already. I am in for the 50km mtb and the 30km trail run. Then a little bit of fishing Saterday afternoon as well!
  21. Thanks Milky, It may be our time to shine, with the big boys, Donovan and Niel, away. How you feeling after 36One?
  22. Has anyone ridden the new course? Is it worth driving through to practice it or is it quite similar to the last one? No Hidden surprises?.
  23. I am in! Cant wait, Thursday XCO, Saterday Tulbagh Marathon.
  24. Milky, why cant i find your name on the list? I am heading to Rheebokskloof at 2pm to register and get a lap or 2 in. Apparently the track is easier than the version from last year. Lets see.
